ECAC Quarterfinals -- RPI @ Union (3/9, 3/10 and maybe 3/11)

Re: ECAC Quarterfinals -- RPI @ Union (3/9, 3/10 and maybe 3/11)

Quite frankly, RPI is in the bonus round right now. We have absolutely nothing to lose whatsoever. After a ****-poor regular season, things couldn't get any worse. Anything we can take from this series is good. If we keep playing with that mentality, we'll be fine. As for holding off an offensive powerhouse, we seemed to do just fine against Colgate and a team that provides a lot of sustained pressure in Cornell. Win or lose, RPI needs to play 480 minutes of solid hockey this weekend.

Good points and I agree, but 480 minutes? Do you expect 4 or 5 OT games all three games? :-P (I'm sure you meant 180)

Re: ECAC Quarterfinals -- RPI @ Union (3/9, 3/10 and maybe 3/11)

"Dominated"? You were around for last season, right, where most games were dramatic until the very end, and RPI should have actually tied one up near the end but got a good goal waved off? The one even Union fans admitted should have counted? Your history is quite recent, as in one season, but I pretty clearly remember your team being the toilet of the ECAC for as long as anyone can remember. Don't jinx two good years by suddenly claiming that Union is some historic ECAC powerhouse.

Edit: RPI should also be in your thanks right now for Union actually clinching the Cleary Cup, instead of being co-champions with Cornell.

Now now. The boy has a short memory, leave him alone with his delusions.

Last I checked, Yale won the ECAC last year.

Clearly, you should check again.

I checked and it was Yale, but I might be missing something. Either that or it's just further proof UHF should be ignored.

No, I meant 480. Just like how, during the regular season, I was clamoring for 130 minutes of effort. No slacking off in the overtime, or slacking off at some other point and making up for it in the overtime.

Hair meet split------ Union won the regular season last year, Yale won the tournament.

For any current RPI students, the RPI Student Union has a limited number of tickets available for Friday and Saturday for $6/each. See the administration office on the third floor of the Student Union to buy them.

Indeed-this is all bonus play for us. But i would be more concerned with our ability to score against one of the best defensive clubs in the nation. We may be able to compete defensively and keep these relatively lower scoring games-but can we find a way to score against the team defense that Union puts out there virtually every game? Our boys must be feeling great right now after playing 5 consecutive games with everything they had to give. They cannot afford to bask in the glow for long however. Friday will be here before we know it and Union is a well rested highly ranked team.

The biggest thing we need to do is to play our game for all 480 minutes. If we can put some pucks in the net against a good goaltender like Karpowich, Grosenick is going to be no different.

Yes, and which one of those was awarded the conference auto-bid to the NCAA tournament? Would that not be the team that most would consider the one that "won" the ECAC?

Most, but not for those with an agenda. They hung a banner, doncha know. Goes really nicely with the "NCAA Division I Ice Hockey Championships" banner that I will again laugh at this weekend.

Freud called it... well, I can't type it because the board won't let me say the word.

I'm shocked. Does this mean that you have garnered the courage to step foot inside the frightening (or take your RC adjective pick) Messa Rink and will put up with the mean and loud Union fans? Haven't you said that you fear for your life whenever you step inside our building? We'll try to make the experience as pleasant as possible for you this time around.

Re: ECAC Quarterfinals -- RPI @ Union (3/9, 3/10 and maybe 3/11)

Is it the fact that we've come in first in the ECAC in back to back years or the fact that we have thoroughly dominated RPI in recent history?

FWIW, I said that we came in first in the ECAC (as in finished in first place in the standings), not that you bright kids didn't understand what I was talking about.

Funny how words can be mangled throughout the course of a thread.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I needed a good laugh. More like impotent and whiny.

He'll wear a wig !

Did a mouse just fart?

The last time I checked, you win in sports by coming in first place. ...unless, of course, you're in some children's league in Connecticut where they give a trophy to everyone.

Is it too late to amend the Top 10 for stupidest banners?
