Re: ECAC Pick The Standings Contest 2015-2016
Years ago my dad gave me several bits of advice (most of which I never believed or followed). First he told me never get married and never have any children-that way you can take your last dime and call the undertaker (never understood that and never followed). Second, he told me if you do get married, marry a rich woman who can cook. you can get everything else somewhere else(understood that and followed the first part). But he never warned me not to marry a smart *****. So here goes.
First-Harvard (about time they finally take advantage of all those good recruiting classes in spit of the coachin)
Second-Quinnipiac (really wish they would just move to Hockey East)
Third-Yale (more because of their coaching than their talent)
Fourth-SLU (have been so much more consistent than their northern neighbor)
Fifth-Colgate (perhaps should be ranked higher as they have as much talent as anyone)
Sixth-Cornell (would love to rank them lower but somehow they find a way to keep the scores close and low enough to win)
Seventh-Rensselaer (being optimistic here, the talent is more than most think, the coaching needs to figure out how to use it all)
Eighth-Union (the brief glory years are over as they are for the football team)
Ninth-Clarkson (for now a top echelon program no more, but they will be back for me to hate again soon)
Tenth-Dartmouth (tough one to predict as they could finish quite a bit higher)
Eleventh-Princeton (have already seen them practice, far better than most think but may need another year to show it)
Twelfth-Brown (seems like the school has made hockey a low priority now for some time)
Actually do not expect a repeat of the success of last year, and would settle for just being ahead of my sarcastic but extremely cute wife. This year the bet is far simpler than usual and very much one sided. If i am ahead, an incredible chocolate peanut butter pie. If she wins, the usual-a selection from Bvlgari or Cartier (the only two foreign words she seems to know).
And a big thank you to VicB for running this every year. hope all is well Vic and that both our troubles are behind us.
