ECAC Pick the Standings 2021-2022

Only one ECAC game was played and it didn't change the standings, so I'm not going to repost the contest standings. They're right up there!

One league game since the last update, and it let Harvard leapfrog into the top spot. sezenack, however, was not leapfrogged and holds onto 1st place. This week should lead to a little more excitement.

Unlike the last couple updates, there were actually a decent number of ECAC games played in the last week, and they had a not insignificant effect on the standings. sezenack remains atop the heap, currently boasting one of the best scores I've seen in the history of the contest as we approach the true halfway point of the season.

Twelve games this weekend put us just beyond the halfway point of the league schedule and shuffled up the bottom of the table a little bit. sezenack remains atop the standings (though with a less stunning score this week), as do the bottom three.

sezenack is holding onto the lead, but pretty much all of our scores are falling. Curiously, Dr. Two Years Ago jumped up out of third from last, where they've been all season.

As we move into the final third of the season, sezenack is holding on to a lead over fellow RPI partisans Ralph Baer and JennyRN, but with the turmoil in the middle of the standings, who knows what may happen?

Congratulations to sezenack for holding on to win this year's Pick the Standings contest! Rounding out the podium were Ralph Baer with his second straight second-place finish and bothman, who leapfrogged a few others to snag bronze. Sez was just off the mark to match last year's winning score, though it's still the second best ever winning score. In the back, the Random Number did especially poorly, putting up a total only exceeded by previous editions of itself and the infamous RPI Standings Board of 17-18. The worst human poster, red133883, did perfectly respectably and even could have won previous years with that score, but the ECAC has become a bit more stratified, putting even low triple digit scores at the back of the pack.

Congratulations again to sezenack, who missed SLU by 3 and Colgate by 2, but had everyone else either dead on or off by one. By contrast, the RNG missed three teams by 7, one by 9, and had Yale exactly wrong. Not a great year for the machines. Our worst human, red133883, had half the league off by exactly 4, which is pretty funny.

Dartmouth hurt us far more than any other team, accounting for over a fifth of the total points earned by humans and more people missing by four or more than had them within 2 spots of 11th. Conversely, we basically nailed Quinnipiac, with only The Media and Rjm7272 committing the sin of placing them as low as third.

the ECAC has become a bit more stratified

I will agree with you there lugnut. Even the weekly Pick'em contest has entrants picking the same winners, and some weeks earning (hypothetically) 10 out of a possible 13 points.

3 of the 4 teams that made it to Lake Placid this season were teams that didn't sit out last season. It shows how playing last season really helped Colgate (and Cornell sitting out really hurt them).
