I'm curious how many of you would bet Harvard over Cornell or Colgate over Union if something extremely valuable, like your house, was on the line. These results are possible, but I wouldn't say it's a 1:2 chance, which is what the aggregate results show.

I agree with you; however, my picks were (more than anything else) the best way to get 3 teams from ECAC in the NCAA tournament; as long as Cornell and Union each win a game, then either Harvard or Colgate can be the AQ.

Guess my pick is more "what I want to happen" rather than "what I think will happen" - and since I'm in the middle of the pack, I'm willing to take a chance.

First off, Don't think I would EVER bet Harvard over Cornell OR anybody over Colgate (a dig at you, Bill !). If I was resolutely sure of those outcomes, I wouldn't bet. As I've said before: 'being a fan means I pick my team over all others, else it's a TIE in the pick 'em contests. So it is always Go 'Gate !!! As far as the other semifinal game ... Cornell is the #2 school (respects to my father).

so my picks should now be easy to predict ....

I don't know how smart it would be to bet AGAINST the Crimson in the ECAC semis. No matter how their season goes, it seems like if they reach the semis, they always make it to the final. Since 2002, Harvard has played in 7 ECAC semifinal games and has won EVERY SINGLE one of them. That's pretty remarkable.

I don't know how smart it would be to bet AGAINST the Crimson in the ECAC semis. No matter how their season goes, it seems like if they reach the semis, they always make it to the final. Since 2002, Harvard has played in 7 ECAC semifinal games and has won EVERY SINGLE one of them. That's pretty remarkable.

Stark contrast to Colgate, who in that same span has played in the semis 6 times and lost each time (including to Harvard in 2005)

Vic-Thanks for running the annual contest. Always fun to participate. Actually sorry that i beat Jenny this year-we had a side wager. If she beat me, she was going to buy me a new car (I had everything already picked out since she almost always wins-and it was going to be a beauty!). But if I won-she got a fur coat. So tomorrow it is off to Flemington Furs and she can make her decision there. One would think i was getting the better of the deal-but i think she has her eyes on a Russian Sable(and that can be like purchasing a Mercedes S Class)
