ECAC Finals attendance contest

Having heard not a single mention on local (Philly) TV or radio, I expect there will be minimal attendance by locals. It will be travelling fans of the schools and that's it.

So:

Friday - 3500
Saturday - 2500

Is this tickets sold or actual attendance? Because an awful lot of RPI and Union fans who bought tickets in advance will now be spending their weekend on the boardwalk, not watching hockey...

There is atleast 1 billboard on I95 from NYC to Philly with an advertisement about it. Just before Newark heading South. Just sayin'.

4000? That's just....wow. Even with no WI or MN this year, and no UND today (they get a bye and play tomorrow night), I bet the Xcel gets 14-15K minimum for today's games. I guarantee the UND game will be a sellout (19K+), no matter who they play.

Is it population of the area? Is it the size/reputation of the conference?

Hoops hoops and more hoops, even baseball spring training gets more press around here. Sadly the Connecticut High School hockey championships will outdraw the ECAC finals, thats where alot of my friends will be this weekend. the location is daunting as a drive through NYC is in the cards for me, which I will do, Yale is sending one bus down and at $40, a bargain.

That's a shame. I figured with the massive population out east that maybe some NHL fans might take a peek, or people went despite their school not being there, as is the case with the WCHA for the most part.

Although, apparently today's attendance for CC-UAA and tUMD-BSU was dreadful (I heard a report of 6-7K for the afternoon game, and the night game looks like maybe 3-4K more than that). I'll have to see if attendance improves for tomorrow's afternoon game (I still think the night game will be packed).

Having the ECAC Finals in AC would be like Hockey East having their finals in Albany (see what I did there?)

This place is dead. The turnout is terrible and the arena is no better than Albany was. Obviously people don't come here for hockey!

I'm sure there would have been a better turnout with other ECAC teams that have tons of fans following them. Yale, Colgate and dartmouth just do not get the turnout. They could have held this any place and not had much of a crowd with these teams.
