ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Re: Goaltending in the ECAC

Re: Goaltending in the ECAC

Can we get 4 teams into the NCAA's?

It looks like, from the most recent pairwise, that Q is in. Yale dropped from 6th to 10th with their losses to Dartmouth. They still look solid. Harvard's blowout of RPI has moved them to 11th. They might need a semifinal win to anchor them into the NCAA's. SLU and Dartmouth have moved up to 19th and 20th but IMO will need a tournament.

If Cornell were able to upset Q in game 3 and win in the semifinal round, that might be enough to get them into the NCAA's without winning the tournament.

It looks like the most probable scenario is, if Harvard can win in the semifinals, the ECAC would land the same three teams as last year.

Re: Goaltending in the ECAC

I think it's possible, although I didn't fill out the whole Predictor. A SLU win over Harvard dropped Harvard to #12 (when I entered pretty much chalk otherwise), which is close but still not bad; as long as there aren't a lot of other upsets, they should be okay. Then either an SLU win in the final, or Dartmouth winning twice, will put either of them in. So I think we can get Q, Yale, Harvard, and SLU/Dartmouth in.

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Cornell can still get in without much in the way of unlikely results (Dartmouth and Cornell could actually both get in, giving the ECAC 5 teams!)

Harvard appears to be in unless there are a lot of unlikely results.

Dartmouth and SLU require a championship to get in.

I hope this is the case. The more the merrier. In the history of the ECAC DI hockey going back to 1962, there are three current ECAC teams that have never won the championship. They are:

DARTMOUTH
BROWN
QPACK

Their flags are hanging high along with the rest of the ECAC teams but they have no years. Could be a first for DARTMOUTH or QPACK.

Re: Goaltending in the ECAC

Good news, everyone! The ECAC Semifinals will be televised ... but it's hit or miss, depending on where you are. The ECAC Championship game, however, WILL be on TV in the home markets of the 12 ECAC schools. SportsNet New York will carry the game in the NYC area as well as all of NY state, while Comcast SportsNet New England will carry the game in the New England region.

Easily. A Dartmouth or SLU tourney win does it unless insanity rules the other conference championships (there would need to be about 4 dark horse winners).

As was mentioned, it's also quite possible to get 4 with Cornell in with a Q or Harvard title, but in that case we need some assistance (but nothing too crazy) from the other conferences. I have heard that chalk from now on actually gets Cornell in.

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Surprised to hear that. Do you have a specific scenario where that works?

I found it.

You are not accounting for the autobids. Cornell would be out

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Your right. I missed the AHA. I haven't found a scenario getting 5 in.

Pretty cool though that you found one with 5 in the top 16. I assumed that a Dartmouth or SLU win would have them well outside the top 16 (but in on an auto).

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Yep. We need to get to at least 14 with a Dartmouth win (because of the AH auto).

I don't think getting to 14 is possible at all. I think the Big Red's biggest fanz this weekend are Quinnipiac, Michigan, and anyone but Minnesota Duluth.

My math was wrong. I didn't factor in the AHA champion. They take the 16 spot bumping a 5th ECAC team. I don't think the ECAC can get 5 in.

Q definitely helps us the most, since we have the five games against them. Harvard is next best (stops to wipe vomit from mouth) because it CANNOT be the other two.

Independent of partisan interest, I'd personally like to see Q get the overall 1 seed. For one thing, it's always good when ECAC teams excel. For another, it's an easier path to the national title (except of course we'll interrupt it, yadda yadda), and Q has a ton of high profile guys who might bolt after a national title. Don't stop thinking about tomorrow. ;)

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

If Q makes it to the final 4 and is the last ECAC team standing, we are all going to be Bobcats !!!

Pretty mundane outside the league tourney, gets Cornell in at 15 and Dartmouth at 14.
