Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Next week are all ECAC games are league matchups ..... here is where we stand:

Conference
Atlantic Hockey ----- 8-28-2 (.237)
Big Ten -----15-19-6 (.450)
ECAC ---- 26-13-4 (.651)
Hockey East ---- 29-19-6 (.593)
NCHC ---- 25-17-6 (.583)
WCHA ----- 12-14-6 (.469)

and we are 8-7-1 against HE

While we look good right now, the numbers are very sensitive and a bad weekend for us combined with good weekends by HE or NCHC can put us in third or worse. Also, the past two years the ECAC has gotten off to a great start only to flounder in December. We will see.

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

I'm impressed by the ECAC early but like mentioned, the ECAC usually comes out firing. Cant pinpoint why that is. We knew Yale and Harvard would be competitive on a national level but Q has asserted itself in that conversation very quickly as well. Im comfortable in saying that a ECAC team will be in the FF in Tampa, maybe multiple. Fun to have the Ivies playing. Looking forward to continued success for the league!

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

For the 12 teams in the ECAC, there are only three non-conference games on tap over the next two weeks. Q plays Connecticut and RPI plays Bentley and UNH. The rest are league matchups.

It's not our fault you have finals at a weird time. ;)

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

We (ECAC) have played 42 Non-Conference, Non-ECAC opponents thus far this season. Over the next two weeks, we will add three more. Then, we will still have 64 more to go.
Starting November 27-28, we get back into the NC schedule with 17 NC matchups.

Nov 27-28 - 17 NC
Dec 10-12 - 10 NC
Dec 20 - 1 NC
Dec 28-30 - 7 NC
Jan 1-5 - 13 NC
Jan 8-10 - 11 NC
Jan 19 - 6 NC
Jan 26 - 1 NC
Feb 2 - 2 NC
Feb 8 - 1 NC

Historically we have started off strong but collapsed in December. This year we play 35 NC games in December. Part of the reason might be exams. Part of the reason might be that many ECAC teams just focussed on the ECAC and saw NC games as warmups. However, this year might be different. There are no "bottom of the barrel" teams in the ECAC. Even Princeton has put us all on notice. There also seems to be a lot of hungry ECAC teams with very high expectations. Here is hoping we can continue the good NC work. Would love to see at least one ECAC team in the f4.

Thanks for the link to the Article Dutchman. I have only seen 6 games, but I think there will be dog fights at the top and bottom of the standings. Seems like there is much more depth at the bottom than in past years. Hope my Big Green can finish in the top 8 for a home playoff series.

Re: ECAC 2015-2016 Season Thread

Kudo's to RPI for its win over UNH. We are now 10-7-1 vs HE (.583) and 29-13-4 (.674) in non-conference. We are heading for some tough non-conference competition going forward. The numbers so far may be a high water mark for the season. If you want to get an invite to the big dance (NCAA Tournament) it helps to have a strong non-conference resume. We have got the teams and the talent and especially the goaltending. We need nonconference wins from the top six as well as the bottom six.

Heading to the big Yale Providence game on Saturday. Should be a good comparison yardstick.
