Eastern Bias- Blizzard stories

Re: Eastern Bias- Blizzard stories

The coast getting slammed. 30+ foot waves. Thankfully we are not there. My family- elderly- are down in Quincy- no power since last night. Usually they band together but have 4' drifts so can't get out the door. One Auntie has comcast so when the power is out no phone. Dumbest system ever. Can't get her because she has not turned the cell phone on. Hopeing she is OK. They haven't seen a plow yet.

In a lull here. Lil les' car is in a drift that just shows the tip of his popped up wipers. Lottsa digging to occur after we drop Lil out the window to get us outside access.

PS the truck thing is bad. Lil looked and said "What is that?" When I told him he said- "Wow" in an awed voice, followed by "how is he getting that out of there?"

Re: Eastern Bias- Blizzard stories

We did not get exactly spared this time here in Brick NJ-we got about 7 inches after a ton of rain and some ice. With all the idiots down here trying to drive it is still abit of a mess. But this is a whole lot better than 2 years ago when we virtually led the nation with an incredible 36 inch accumulation. For us-today is just a fireplace day. We are doing nothing until some of this is gone (weather supposed to warm after tomorrow). Our thoughts are with all you guys in Connecticut and Massachusetts who got a blast. Just everyone stay safe and warm.

Hope you find your dad!

Re: Eastern Bias- Blizzard stories

Can someone tell me why a grown man would insist on going out to shovel 2 ft of snow with the laces of his boots undone and the tops flapping down? SOmetimes the need to be stoopid to prove a point astounds me

Re: Eastern Bias- Blizzard stories

About 2 1/2 feet here in SoPo. Had a nice wind tunnel down the driveway overnight so there wasn't much to clear this morning. :D Shoveled three times yesterday, though. Now I'm thinking about a shower, then my brother and his two little criminals pick me up and we're headed for the Bruins game!

The rocking chair on the front porch got blown down the stairs last night just before we went to bed. That isn't a terribly rare occurrence. But the grill on the back deck apparently got rocked so hard in the wind that two wheels - in opposite corners - came out. I've tied it to the railing so it doesn't pull a Wizard of Oz on me.

You might want to make sure there IS a Bruins game. Travel in MA is still forbidden and everything is shut down. Tyler Seguin just tweeted that he's going to need a team of sled dogs to get him to the game.

Some guy got blown off a pier in Portland last night, I'll bet that water was nice and refreshing. Also just heard they had a 91mph wind gust in Boston.

Woo! We're up to 45.5" here. We'll hit 4' before this ends.

According to WEEI - per the NHL, if both teams are in town, the game is to be played.

Just give him a pound of sugar, three red bulls, and bake a thanksgiving sized turkey. Send him outside to shovel. After all that he should grow 5 inches. :p

If the Lightning are staying in Cambridge they're not in town ;)
