East-West Challenge Tournament!

Re: East-West Challenge Tournament!

The first link worked but it has been loading for awhile. I appreciate you trying though!

Re: East-West Challenge Tournament!

No worries! I see prez was able to get the link up on the Norwich live stats page (here), with the proper logos, even!! (nice work, Derek!). Looks like we're going to "bonus hockey" tied at 2.

Re: East-West Challenge Tournament!

Nuts. Well, we'll do our best to keep you updated. OT over still tied at 2, so it's in the books as a tie.

Derek... just one OT, or is there anything "special" being that this is a tournament format?
Edit - Nevermind... I see the box states "Final - OT". Good comeback from being down 2-zip, ladies! Looking forward to watching the game tomorrow!! (EC724 - Get on a PC for that one!!) :)

Cheers!!!

Well a 6-0 win for the Cardinals. Not at all the game I was expecting to see, but I'll take it! Another two big games tomorrow.

Re: East-West Challenge Tournament!

Transplanted FROM a tiger fan or TO a tiger fan?!?!
Sorry for the delayed response... just returning from the EC Men’s home game. Once a Tiger fan, always a Tiger fan. The “Transplanted” is in reference to my move to the Elmira area years ago. My hockey history is dark and jaded. Grew-up in the Albany/Schenectady area, where I was a Union College hockey fan. Hated RIT, as Union and RIT were arch rivals back in those days (early 80’s).

In ’85 I got accepted to and began attending RIT, so I had to “change my colors” and begin cheering for RIT, as I was paying thousands of dollars for the “right” to do so! Started hating Union, as the rivalry was still very much alive... I had become a full-blown Tiger Fan, during the days when the Corner Crew was in its infancy.

Then Union goes DI, and RIT needed a new rival. Elmira filled that void almost immediately, and I developed a keen dislike for all things purple. So then comes graduation, and where does this poor S.O.B. land a job? You guessed it, in the Elmira area. Hence the “Transplanted” part... this Tiger Fan was transplanted to enemy territory. But this time, no way was I going to change my colors... I was still a Tiger Fan through-and-through. Attending games in a hostile environment, and enjoying every minute of it! I even managed to bring peace to arguably one of the most fierce rivalries in DIII. We had pre-game socials where opposing fans would gather, drink, and hate on each other in a kind manner, enjoy hating on each other during the game in a not-so-kind manner, then do it all again next game. I was the Anwar Sadat of DIII hockey... I was just waiting for the parade and that “special float” made just for me!! Ahhh, those were the days.

Then the RIT Men go DI, and the rivalry died. Much to the shock and disapproval of my RIT brethren, I began cheering for Elmira College... at least for the Men. The Women were still DIII, and I had a very difficult time during those games... I was verbally-neutral, but my heart was still with the Tigers. It got very easy when RIT went DI for the Women as well. So now I can pull for all 4 teams, RIT/Elmira, Men/Women with a clear conscience and no “internal struggles”.

I am now even serving as a Director on the Elmira College Athletic Booster Club. There are still many personal struggles for the other sports (Volleyball, Soccer, etc), at least when RIT and Elmira play against one-another, but when it comes to hockey, I’m free-and-clear. :)

Cheers!!!

Re: East-West Challenge Tournament!

Waking as though from a dream...
Is Plattsburgh that good?
Is Norwich that bad?
Maybe and no (although Carrier gave up 18 goals ALL of last season).
Manhattanville showed they are young but have a lot of talent and Elmira played like it was their 1st game in defense of their title.
Another great day coming up!
Following the Prez suggestion for breakfast at Wayside.

Re: East-West Challenge Tournament!

Prez will there be live stats for the PSU /Manhattanville game?

Well we are happy to have you! I graduated from EC in 08 and even though I don't live there, I will forever be an EC hockey fan :)
