East Regional-Miami University, Denver, Boston College, Providence

Re: East Regional-Miami University, Denver, Boston College, Providence

That's a penalty every single time and has been for several years.

The right call and a good call.

Mr les is having a canary that they are reviewing this. Swears they cannot review it for this. No pony in this. I think it was legit penalty. If he didn't drop the shoulder but was up more the guy was laid out and it is legal

They may have been looking at misconduct vs. DQ. Maybe. I don't know.

Headshot penalty was warranted. DU was doing pretty good job killing it off... right there until the end. This atmosphere turning out like yesterday's gm.. hold the fort, Friars!

Re: East Regional-Miami University, Denver, Boston College, Providence

Pretty sure there can't be contact to the head with anything except body (but I could be wrong)

Checked with Mr les who's sat in NCAA rules committee thingies. Nothing can hit the head. Ever.

Yup you're right. It was the right call. There is a lot of language (rule 45.1) that is a good step forward.

OMG! Great game Friars! Congrats!

Re: East Regional-Miami University, Denver, Boston College, Providence

Congratulations Providence. Still don't think that should have been 5 minutes however.

Page 45 of the rule book:

Any contact directly with the player’s head and neck area must be
penalized with a major penalty and a game misconduct or disqualification.
A player delivering a check to an unsuspecting and vulnerable player puts
themselves in jeopardy of being penalized under this rule
.

Re: East Regional-Miami University, Denver, Boston College, Providence

Fiver, he also left his feet during the hit. Shades of the O'Neil hit in Bridgeport a few years ago against UMD.

Show us where he left his feet. O'Neil hit Hendrickson high after he elbowed Faulk in the back of the head.

Re: East Regional-Miami University, Denver, Boston College, Providence

Did that actually happen?

Yep base that off one game over the course of the season and a questionable call. Seems legit.

He's basing it on two Hockey East teams in the Frozen Four that defeated NCHC teams to get there. And the fact that there were six teams in the tournament.

yes. the ref's gave you guys the game to make boston garden happy (that seems to be a reoccurring theme on the board here :p )

So basically they are rewarding players for playing with their head down?? In fact you should play with you head low and stuck out in a big game and hope you get gifted a major. Hell, any check by a big player on a smaller player could be to the head.
