Dump Term 2 Part 5: He Didn't Specify Which Civilization Would Die...

Me too. I'll believe it when I see it.

First impeachment - skated.
Second impeachment - skated.
January 6th - skated.
Massive corruption in first term - skated.
Stolen Top Secret Documents in bathroom. - skated.
Jan 6th court case. - skated.

He's untouchable. He truly is the King.

Bulwark is missing the point. Humans do not act on reason. We act on emotion. We don't get angry about THE TERRIBLE PROBLEM OF UNEMPLOYMENT. We get angry when we lose our job.

This is what intellectuals have always hitherto gotten wrong. Nobody acts on a theoretical abstraction -- that's a mental model they find useful for analysis but it does not touch people. Dostoevsky has a great passage about it in Karamazov. Even the people who open their mind to science and ignore the comforting Mommy of religion immediately fall back into the warm embrace of the comforting Mommy of the Moral Arc of the Universe that Bends towards Justice. Whatever the fuck that means.

The limbic system is our engine. The frontal lobe is, at most, taking notes and making up reasons after the fact. And that's not a sin; there is no value judgment in a fact. But we should always remember reasoning is the 6-4-3 on our scorecard. It isn't turning the double play.

I act in abstraction all the time. Just because the southern morons can't doesn't mean it isn't possible.

You think in abstraction. You act because you are a leaky bag of chemicals like everybody else. When somebody is smart, they are good at manipulating symbols inside their heads. Certainly we do that better than the MAGAts. Certain vegetables and fruit do as well. But that isn't connected to the drive train.

Ever since Plato we have privileged reason, but Plato didn't think his way to the superiority of thought. He retreated there because he had a sad the mob got mad and murdered Socrates. That beef was not the product of reason. It was his grief and fury with a side order of class fear because the peasants were coming for the idle rich.

I am a big fan of reason, but I watch entire continents starve to death or die in agony under the onslaught of my tax dollars, and I do nothing, whereas I fly into a hurricane of action when I stub my toe.
