Dump Term 2 Part 4: Twilight of the Derps

So the GOP agreed to a funding bill that was already proposed to them before the 40-day shutdown, and they also want to re-open the Strait that was already open before they started a war. I think I'm noticing a pattern here.

I hate nearly everything about AI in practice but I felt this was pretty good

(I do not think a preview shows but it is Iran war movie trailer for those who do not like random links)

100+ No Kings events throughout Michigan today. Wife and I are going to our local one.

I am not a natural protester. I had to read about the Leipzig Monday demonstrations last night to psych myself up for this.

Back from Troy. We did not take our phones, but here's what I toted around (Side A/Side B):

I originally had Pinochet in there, but decided Idi Amin was needed for DEI. 😜

Pretty good crowd, bigger than I expected for a fairly rich suburb.

Maybe the Democrats should promise to give Donnie Don’t the Land of Milk and Honey Peace Prize in exchange for him pressuring Congressional MAGAts to pass the TSA funding bill.

From the Comments, I love "fiscal conservatives" still think it's going off the gold standard that killed us.

Had we not gone off the gold standard, it would be 100x worse*. No conservative and few liberals or even Leftists understand that currency markets stopped being classical and were replaced by the petrodollar economy on August 15, 1971.

But it isn't just Reagan. JFK and Bush Sr. get off too easy. JFK cut the top marginal rate 21% (91% to 70%). Reagan cut it 20% (70% to 50%). Bush Sr. cut it 22% (50% to 28%). Combined they cut it 63% (91% to 28%). The greatest wealth redistribution in world history. Over the last 45 years the richest have stolen, when you factor in opportunity cost, hundreds of trillions of dollars from the American middle class. The richest 10,000 American families have stolen on average 1 million dollars from each other American. The only reason we have not gone bankrupt is that cost has been converted to debt and military spending via the petrodollar economy.

* I mean I guess if we still had a classical monetary system the Great American Depression would have happened during Reagan, so while the pain would have spiked higher it would have been a quick drop. So it's a question of whether it's worse to be born into poverty or start out wealthy and then descend into poverty over your lifetime. Personally I think every day you spend at ease is a treasure and when the pain becomes too great later just kill yourself to keep a high career BA.
