But Trump himself has said of NATO allies: "If they don't pay, I'm not going to defend them."

U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated in early 2025 that "stark strategic realities prevent the United States of America from being primarily focused on the security of Europe."

For the study group, the danger lies not necessarily in a formal U.S. withdrawal from NATO, but in ambiguity. A deterrence gap could emerge gradually "through ambiguity, delays and mixed signals — especially in moments of crisis, when credibility matters most."

Such a gap, the report said, would invite probing behavior from Moscow, particularly if Russia perceived "a growing mismatch between Europe's interests and its capacity or willingness to defend them."

It's been a while since I made a comment here as I've been disgusted with how the Trump Administration is dealing with...well...everything! As a regular visitor to the US (several time a year) I'm sad to say I've cut off all trips until you replace the cult currently ruining your once respected country with an administration that you can be proud of. My guess is that it will take many years for the rest of the world to trust the United States again. Canada is not your enemy, but it feels like we are based on what comes out of your White House.

I think all Americans (especially MAGA cult members) should watch this piece from 2010 and think about what was a once great relationship between our two countries. Don't believe anything Trump says about Canada...or anything else for that matter.

I know the majority of Americans do not support what is happening and I apologize if my words seemed to lump you all together. I also know that the MAGA crowd will believe anything that comes out of Trump's mouth regardless of facts to prove otherwise - I'll call them the "lost Americans". Logic, facts and reason will never turn them...

I've been torn about my boycott of the US because I know that the drop in Canadian tourism numbers is really hurting a lot of people and businesses south of the border, but my conscience won't let me visit. I feel as if I condone what's happening if I were to spend my money and enjoy myself there.
 
Boycott us into the ground. $$$ are the only thing the parasites who rule the US respond to. The Epstein Class has to be boiled in the oil of their own terrible economic policies. If there is collateral damage, the Poors will fuck irresponsibly and replenish the ranks, like always.
