Dump Term 2, 1.01: Sleep Now in the Fire

Good size anti-Trump protest in my town today. It’s nice that people are starting to push back.
Well I'll be...we drove through a part of ruby-red Brevard County, FL that we normally don't, and at a big intersection, there was an anti-Trump protest in full swing. Easily 800 people standing on all 8 sidewalks leading to the intersection with anti-Trump and anti-Elon signs. My fave: "There's no sign big enough to list all the reasons I'm here."

Maybe the tide can turn?

I'll believe it when I see it.

I think they're too dumb to understand what is happening, and even if they weren't they are sealed in the GOP killing jar and will never get out.

I know too many of these folks to overestimate them.

Note: it was part of a national protest -- it was our people. The MAGAts are a lost cause.

The worst part is there are still some Democrats who are willing to tell the rest of us that we shouldn’t look down on the ignorant and stupid, because looking down on them only makes them feel more resentful, which pushes them further and further into the arms of Trump.

Worst of all is hearing some Democrats choosing not to hold them accountable for their terrible choices in the hope they might one day vote for a Democrat, so that there’s never any downside to being ignorant and stupid, and there’s never any upside to growing up.

I think i posted that the other day...but it bears repeating.

Which elected Democrats are saying these things?

Not being snarky - I honestly don't know.
Quite a few of them. Not those words specifically but most Senate Dems and a lot of the House still believe we need to "understand them" and try and convince them back to the right path. We are past that point now...

One of my big criticisms of the "Left" (in quotes cause they are at best center on most issues but love a good virtue signal to look like they hace real compassion) has always been their need to infantalize everyone so they can feel like heroes saving them. That is what they are doing here. They want to let the Trumpers find their path home...they want to keep protecting the stupid from the consequences of their actions. They want to believe people will wise up...they were scared or duped!? The Dems love being called "the adults in the room" even though acting that way has lead us to the precipice of destruction.

For America to survive it's time to act out of Moral Hazard. This us what they wanted, time to give it to them. They wanted a businessman in charge...they got 2! They wanted to cut entitlements...gopher it! They wanted waste eliminated...well here you phucking go! You wanted tax cuts and a hands off federal government...and now we are killing all of it! And while we didn't vote for it(and begged them not to) the fact is we have to suffer too. All of us are responsible in some way and now the bill has come due. Just like with COVID people are going to die (or go broke) because of their selfish choices...and we have to let them. If we save them, they will hate us even more.

America is a 20 year old kid in college about to graduate who has been propped up too long by mommy and daddy. Time to let the kid fail and learn.

I’m definitely at the point where I don’t have empathy for Trumpers and to a large degree loathe them. No doubt there were some people who were ‘duped’ but honestly their logic for voting for him was incredibly flawed at best.

At this point don’t we have to consider that he is legitimately trying to sabotage the country?

The big picture:

89% of respondents to BofA's monthly Global Fund Manager Survey said U.S. stocks are overvalued, the highest in data going back to April 2001.

Based on March S&P Data The market is overvalued somewhere in the range of 96% to 160%, depending on the indicator. This is the lowest level since May 2024 and the narrowest spread since August 2024.

No. This is not correct. Liberals are the paternalists. They want to keep the present system but give marginalized groups set asides and moral victories and flags as compensation (as long as it doesn't cost them anything personally). That is inherently infantilizing.

The Left understands capitalism is rotten to the core and says, "we have to put on our big girl panties, smash it, and take the rich's stolen wealth. We need real, significant, system-level change that will also gore the oxen of a lot of well-heeled people to the left of center." And liberals react like a scalded baby.

Note the personally disparaging language of liberals towards Leftists: they want to be saviors or be seen as heroes. This is obvious evasion. Liberals likely realize they are prolonging a system that fucks the Poors, so they need an out. Thus, it is "Utopian" to change the system. It is sophomoric to oppose the status quo at a fundamental level. Those who are co-opted are "the adults in the room."

It's obvious.

Liberals are the hypocrites. Meanwhile, the mistake the Left makes isn't hypocrisy, it's stupidity. They worship the Poors and have a militarist belief that a tyranny of the Poors would lead to a just society. It wouldn't. The Poors are incompetent and they tend heavily towards authoritarianism and cowardice. They fall for demagogues in and out of the pulpit. They are idiots, and rule by them would be..., well, you're looking at it right now... does it look like a Paradise of Justice?

The Left/Right divide is obsolete. Screw the Left, the Right, and the Liberals.

Protect the smart from the stupid. This is The One True Way.
