He can't go back to Congress, right? He resigned. Though someone on Bluesky said he resigned from the 118th Congress and was re-elected to the 119th so he can just show up in January. Not sure how that all works. And now some MAGAts are saying DeSantis should appoint him to Rubio's open senate seat. But wouldn't he face the same Ethics investigation that was going to happen while he was a Congressman?
 
That truly does surprise me. Gaetz didn't strike me as the 'do the honorable thing' type.

Figured he'd be there triggering the libs right to the end. He must have cut a deal to keep the ethics thing under wraps.

He was elected for the next Congress, so can be sworn in with them and start serving in Congress again.

He would lose some seniority (not all that applicable in the House). And, as you noted, releasing the Ethics Report would still be an issue.
 
He had sex with the 17 year old twice. Was going to come out today. I imagine the Senate told him and Dump to pound sand, there was not going to be a rubber stamp.

Such a dumb own goal. I can't believe he actually thought resigning would prevent that report from coming out. He better hope there was a taksies backsies clause! Otherwise he's just a jobless pedophile.
