Dump Term 2, 1.01: Sleep Now in the Fire

Just got an email from one of my Teachers Unions...they took down the portals for Income-Driven Recovery and other recovery and consolidation options. They now want paper applications. Nothing is canceled as of yet...but its coming. This is just step one in the process.

Just another way the pricks in charge can tank the economy!

I fly next week. New Orleans for a big conference. One that is usually attended by a fair number of federal and state folks as well. So far, it sounds like many of them will still be there but who knows. Supposed to have a meeting with the NOAA guys I am working with on a project and finally heard back from them that they are still planning on being there.

Can't say I am super excited about the flying part but I am trying not to think about it and instead thinking about the food and drink I will get to enjoy.

More than one-third of the contracts DOGE is cancelling are expected to yield NO savings. If Trump was serious about cost cutting, instead of empowering the world's richest man to cut contracts haphazardly, he'd turn to IGs and the GAO...

Air traffic controllers are required by law to retire at 56. It is a high-stress, high-intensity job that requires intense focus. The retirement rules are there to keep us all safe. This fucking guy has no clue what's he's doing.

Pretty much everyone who has worked for him that isn't a cultist says the same thing...when he discusses things they don't know about he sounds like a genius. When he talks about things they are experts in, that is when they realize the guy is a clown who is making it up as he goes.

Well no wonder he and Trump get along so well. Both think they are so incredibly smart that when they think of something in a field they are largely unfamiliar with, they immediately believe that they are the first people to have ever considered it and that they need to share this revelation with existing experts in the field. Keep in mind here the issue is not that they were unfamiliar with all of the history and details in a field they knew little about; no one could be; but the reasonable action would be to assume some work had been done on the subject in 99.9% of the cases and that people who may happen to know more than you in that particular field already took some level of action on the subject, and to investigate yourself a little bit further; the unreasonable action is to have so little intellectual curiosity and understanding of the scope in these areas that you assume you are the first person to have ever thought about this and not even bother to look or care if others already have.

It's like when mail-in voting became more popular in 2020 and Trump said there would be no way to tell if people voting in person already voted by mail. Like that wasn't the first fucking thing they thought of ~30 years ago when they got mail-in voting systems up and running in multiple states.
 
And since half the population doesn't care to know how things work...they have the same questions. And since Trump's stupidity matches their own it makes it seem more legit!

If you need a good laugh go back to when Musk bought Twitter and read the whole story. Not only did he get completely played by the Twitter board but when he tried to salvage it with his big "Steve Jobs" speech to the workers it took all of about a minute for the leaks to start. It was so cringeworthy they openly talked about how big of a fraud he was. Then he started firing people and bringing in Tesla Engineers (the geniuses behind the Cybertruck and Self Drive) who had no idea how to code a SM platform and broke it almost overnight.

BTW he is still being sued because he hasn't paid out severance or options. So far he has lost 20 cases I believe.
