Drinking Thread: Three Sheets To The Wind

Re: Drinking Thread: Three Sheets To The Wind

DM Raspberry Hisbiscus??? I'll have to keep my out for that when on the Houghton trip. I know of a couple honey holes that might have it.

Depends on how long New Holland has it out. I think it was released like last week or something.

Also, I'm drinking it now, and the raspberry hits you right away. I got exactly what I paid for.

It depends on what stores have it for that long. ;)

I lucked out today, the local pub had lemonade and iced tea, and of course vodka. Had myself a John Daly while watching the Masters. Seemed fitting. :D

John Daly: 50/50 iced tea/lemonade with added vodka. The non-alcoholic version is the Arnie Palmer, of course. ;)

That actually sounds awesome. I'll finish this Raspberry Hibiscus, and then I'm going right back to my ethical dilemma assignment. Maybe Hemingway was right...

I rarely have pop anymore (or as some may call it: soda). I drink Arnie Palmers. They are delicious.

As far as finding beer and such, you might find some rarities in the unlikeliest of places. Kinda weird how that works out.

I had no idea until just now that adding vodka to an Arnold Palmer makes it a John Daly. That's perfect. :p

You'd be surprised at what some folks haven't heard of. Honestly. bbdl informed a bartender last year how to make a Dark And Stormy, and I taught a bartender what a mint julep was (to be fair, the guy was 22-23 years old, so it didn't surprise me that much).

Saw this on FB

On September 30th, 1956, during a drunken argument in a New York City Bar, a man named Thomas Fitzpatrick claimed he could fly an airplane from New Jersey to New York in under 15 minutes. To prove himself, Fitzpatrick left the bar, stole an airplane from a New Jersey airfield at 3am, flew without lights or radio completely intoxicated, and landed the airplane in the street in front of the bar. The owner of the plane was so impressed that he refused to press charges, and Fitzpatrick was only fined $1000 for his stunt. Two years later, Fitzpatrick got into another drunken argument in which another bar patron refused to believe his wild story, so he did it again. This time finding himself in prison for 6 months....The Original “Hold my beer story”

Given that New Jersey and New York border one another, it seems the flight could be made quicker.

Re: Drinking Thread: Three Sheets To The Wind

I have a bottle of Prosecco and I'm having trouble with the cork. There has to be a way to get it out.

Slow and steady with a corkscrew, or try screwing in a regular screw and using a hammer to extract the cork (ghetto/redneck corkscrew is the scientific term, I believe ;) )

Re: Drinking Thread: Three Sheets To The Wind

Mookie did this with a sword, first try :)

Did you do the puss way where you knock off the cage or the real way where you literally "behead" the bottle at the glass seam?

I had no idea that was what those insane Russian cav officers were doing in War and Peace. They may be bad at armor battles but they are great at drinking!

Mookie untopped the bottle where the glass knob sits. Metal hit that bump and the rest was history.

Re: Drinking Thread: Three Sheets To The Wind

Had an annual bottle share today, the highlight was a 2006-2016 Avery Mephistopheles vertical (unfortunately, they don't make it anymore). Every one was good. Surprised the 2006ish held up, but it did. Wondrous.

Lots of mead, too, that was pleasant.

There is always one skunker, and this year, Wise Acre Smoked Helles took the cake. Smelled okay, tasted like sh*. Drain pour. Most of us took a sip just to say we could truthfully say it was sh*.
