Great Lakes Brewing Edmund Fitzgerald. It's a porter beer, and I like it.

Yes, Even More Jesus is in fact an excellent beer.

I tried a few new ones.
Deschutes Fresh Squeezed - 4/5 It was pretty good, but very hoppy. I probably couldn't have more than one in a sitting, because I'd get sick of the hops, but for 1, it was pretty tasty.
Stillwater Artisanal As Follows - 5/5 Very tasty. Loved this beer. It is a Belgian Strong Pale Ale, and I would highly recommend it.
Epic Big Bad Baptist - 4.5/5 Good imperial stout, in a similar vain as Even More Jesus. Strong coffee and cocoa flavors, thick and dark.
Lucid Halucidation - 5/5 Belgian strong ale aged in wine barrels. It was very tasty, with a bit of a sour finish from the wine barrels. Got a glass of this from Brent. It was right up my alley, since I like sour beers, and this had some of those same notes.
Also, had a glass of the Central Waters barrel aged weizenbock too. It was tasty.

It is rare that I try a beer that I don't like. Maybe that is because I know the styles I like and I stick to them, or maybe I just like beer that much.

Evil Twin Even More Jesus. Um, yes. Very much yes. And "used motor oil" is a very accurate description.
Yes yes yes. Love Even More Jesus. As I said to BBDL when he mentioned that beer upthread, if you're ever in NYC we have to hit up the Evil Twin guy's bar. Fantastic beers there.

The wife and I stopped by the Ithaca Beer Company taproom when we were up in Ithaca for our anniversary a couple weekends ago. We shared their two tasting flights and really enjoyed some of the stuff we had. The Nut Brown is reliably adequate, Cascazilla is quite good (balances the hoppiness better than Flower Power in my opinion), and Partly Sunny is a nice summery beer. One of my beer snob friends says Cayuga Cruiser is a good Berliner weisse (though I don't like the style), and the Excelsior! White Gold is fantastic. (Excelsior! is the name of their series of limited release beers sold in 750 mL bottles.)

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

I have a couple bottles of Even More Jesus stocked up. In the fridge right now I have a Surly Darkness, Deschutes The Abyss and Evil Twin Even More Jesus. That right there is a pretty badass trio of stouts.

I tried the Evil Twin Yin Yang Black and Tan tonight. It was pretty **** tasty. Still pretty hoppy from that IPA, so if you aren't a fan of hops, you won't like it. But I liked the combo of the IPA and the Stout, thought it really worked well. Still have 3 more bottles of each Yin and Yang!

There's a store by me that pretty much has anything by Evil Twin for the non-bombers, and they have a couple of the bombers, also (but don't think they have them all). I liked the Cowboy (smoked pilsner), have yet to try some others.

Schell's North Country Brunette:

Pretty solid beer. Very dry, a little sour (I hate sour beers, FTR), definitely worth a try.

Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

I looked for the North Country Brunette the last time I was at the liquor store, couldn't find it...hmmm

Finished my last bottle of the Game of Thrones: Fire and Blood tonight, while watching the season finale a day late. I still think that is an excellent beer.

It is all over in my area. Surprised Northgate doesn't have it.

That's where I looked last Wednesday or Thursday. Couldn't find it, but I didn't ask about it, so I could have just missed it.

If need be, I'll pick up a bottle for the 28th to donate.

Ok.

I'm trying to figure out what beer to buy for that. I want to have some on ice at the house for the afternoon, including beer darts, and then we're going to need some on the bus. The tricky part there is we're going to have to figure out exactly how much we'll need and put it in styrofoam coolers, because we're going to have to just throw them away when we get dumped in Anoka.

Just go cheap and get Premo and Nordeast, with the couple bombers you have saved for that day. If need be, request that everyone bring a sixer or a bomber for the event.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. I have enough good stuff, I just need the cheap stuff.

It's a marathon, so cheap is good. And Premo/Nordeast is good AND cheap.

Tomorrow night I'm going to a bar that (supposedly, according to their beermenus.com page that hasn't been updated in two weeks) has KBS in bottles. Hopeful.

Debating on when to have mine. And I might try and convince Rubette to give me hers, since she won't be able to drink it for quite some time (at least a year from now, and that might be pushing it).

Yes. It was announced in the Lodge a bit ago (NO FACEBOOK PLEASE). Due in late January. Wasn't exactly our plan, but it is a blessing. S/he is referred to as Rube(tte)V.2. :D

And she said I could have her KBS. :D
