Re: Drinking Thread: Beer, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Wine - Raise a Glass, All Are Welcome

Tonight was mostly spent with Wiser's 18yo... had several. Very nice.

Also sprinkled in were Ron Zacapa, Cockspur & Kirk & Sweeney for rums and Pine Creek & Woodford Reserve Double Oaked (neat, believe it or not) for whiskeys.

Dang but I had a few cocktails tonight while thoroughly enjoying the Hawks game and company that stayed long after.

Me and another dad lost to our boys in pool (2-1) when my cocky kid sunk the 8 with a behind the back look at me I'm young and you're old shot.

Great night!

If you had poured Coke in that, the entire thread would disown you on principle. ;)

I just got that the other day and it was the nightcap to celebrate Toews' goal. :)

So many of you in here were citing it as great that I figured I'd go with the consensus.

I'm not much of a beer guy. Decided to pick up a six pack. Deschutes mirror pond pale ale. It's ok.

Ugly Dog Vokda (local product), used to spike Arizona Arnold Palmer, thereby making a "John Daly". Not bad, cheaper than most whiskeys I would consider drinkable nowadays (hi, I'm a snob :D).

Well, it worked.

Arbor Brewing Co. Espresso Love. It's their breakfast stout that I somehow found at Meijer. Not as good as Founder's Breakfast Stout, but for tonight, I'll take it.

Hasn't that been on Think Geek for a while? (Not trying to be a dick. Just trying to remember.)

Couldn't tell you. It was the first I saw of it, though. A friend e-mailed me to say that his girlfriend had gotten the mold for him.

Just an FYI, 45th Parallel vodka won a double gold this year at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

I knew it had to be well-received if even I was interested in buying a bottle. I typically don't drink vodkas.

Going to have a Busch Light during the Wild Game tonight.

Gonna have loose stool tomorrow AM...

:p

Oh well. It was my cousin's beer of choice (he was a great guy, but he had a terrible taste for beer :p), so I'm having one in his honor.

Yesterday, I picked up a bottle of Leblon Cachaca.

I've been meaning to check out cachaca - which is the Brazilian equivalent of rum.

From a smell and slight taste last night, that it starts with sugar cane is where similarities end. Very earthy taste and not sweet at all. Not a bad taste though - just very different from anything I've had before.

The national drink of Brazil - name escapes me - is this liquor, a crushed lime and some sugar served with ice. Supposed to be really good. Will try it tonight with my fish tacos.

Right on!

Probably the best reason ever to enjoy a Busch Light.

Head for the mountains...

I don't remember the name either, but I've had one at Fogo de Chao before. It was tasty, but had quite an alcohol bite to it. I enjoyed it, but I like the taste of booze, it wouldn't have flied for someone looking for a fruity drink that masks the booze taste.

I like to taste my liquor, so won't be a problem for me.

The wife always complains (maybe too strong a word) that the fruity drinks I make are too strong, but after half a drink, she's fine. ;)

Bought a Keweenaw sample sixer last night. I've found nothing about it online and wonder if they took twelve packs (which I did see) and put them into rings? (We used to do that with some beers at a LQ I worked at in college). I love hops, but have no problem with a beer that doesn't blast them. It was nothing mindblowing, but good enough especially if you're looking to get away from ALL THE HOPS as Brent would say. :)
