If the salmon isn't fresh from the PNW it's sh-t anyway, so you might as well eat some plastic GMO product.

And I say this having mocked MA and MD fresh seafood snobbishness.

Srsly, if you ate something called "salmon" in any other state than WA or OR, you have never eaten salmon.

Bs, if you are old enough to have caught Atlantic salmon in Maine and eat it within hours.

oops, sorry in Maine. Maine used to have Atlantic Salmon runs that were unreal. The first salmon caught in a Bangor pool on the Penobscot River went to the white house every year, tradition continued into the 80s but now the river is catch and release. The chances of catching an Atlantic Salmon in Maine now is minimal.

Go to New Brunswick and you might catch one though, many famous Salmon rivers in NB

On the tech side of things, Li-Fi could become more common. Companies like mine would jump at it as customer data security concerns are paramount.

Goodbye Wi-Fi, Hello Li-Fi: New Wireless Technology Is 100 Times Faster
New wireless technology has been tested that is 100 times stronger than Wi-Fi.

It is called Li-Fi and it could revolutionise the way we interact online.

The technology, which transmits information using visible light communication, is being tested in offices and other workplaces in Tallinn in Estonia.

Tests in the lab have revealed that Li-Fi can be up to 100 times quicker than Wi-Fi - it uses visible light and transmits messages through binary code.

Because visible light cannot pass through walls, it is thought the system will be more secure.

...

Li-Fi was invented in 2011 by Professor Harald Haas from the University of Edinburgh; he showed that more data could be transmitted than a cellular tower by flickering light through a singled LED.

Researchers have reported that, in recent tests, Li-Fi has achieved data transmission of 1GB per second, making it 100 times faster than Wi-Fi.

Its lab record of 224 gigabits per second mean it could download 18 movies of 1.5GB each every second.

Re: Dr. Clayton Forrester's Science Roundup

This past Wednesday was the 100th anniversary of Einstein publishing the Theory of General Relativity. In honor of that, CNN published a buried story in its social commentary section. The writer of the article discusses the importance of the theory, how it has shaped our understanding of a great many things, and seems to think that we would be better off as a society if children were introduced to General Relativity during their younger years. I happen to think that such a subject would wash over them without their understanding and that grade school children don't have teachers qualified to present the information and answer many questions on the subject. It's an admirable goal the man has, but not practical at this point in our nation.

I don't have a link, since it was on a television news show....

Too many Christmas lights can scramble your home wifi signal.

That makes sense actually because electric current creates a magnetic field. I remember making a pretty decent electromagnet once by wrapping lots of wire around the cardboard tube left over once all the tp is gone and attaching it to a few large batteries connected in series (the kind you use in camping lanterns or large flashlights).

Well SpaceX launched a bunch of satellites into orbit last night and then returned the 1st stage booster safely back to Earth. Video is all over Facebook.

I don't know what the kids are studying now, but when I was in school this dude was completely left out of the books in favor of George Armstrong Custer et al.
