" DON"T CRY FOR ME OSTAPINA " Feb 18/19 featuring --->ADRIAN vs. MSOE

My money is on him saying a few magic words after an Adrian goal. The goal at 18:52 matches the time of his game misconduct.
The MSOE bench was very upset with the 'no call' on Adrian, after Jordan Keizer was planted in front of the Adrian goal, shortly before the Bull Dog PP goal.
To me, it looked like a good no call.

That's exactly why they went to a 6-team tournament. The bottom two teams in the MCHA have been absolutely horrid the last few years, and the top two teams don't need that killing their SOS.

I suspect that the chalk will hold in the 1st round this season, but I wouldn't put it past Northland to get past Lawrence in that series. I expect MSOE to handle Lake Forest in relatively short order.

To me, the right way to do this is to have the divisions solely for coming up with a regular season schedule. When the conference starts, drop-kick the divisions and go with straight conference standings. The fact that MSOE has to play next weekend, potentially as an MCHA co-champion, while Marian finishes 3rd and gets a bye into the semis, is ridiculous.

It is not a fair comparison to compare teams that have played significantly different schedules, especially if you are talking about having played every team in your division twice as many times as the teams in the other division. You are comparing apples and grapefruits unless you play a balanced schedule. It would be better to play a 14 game schedule but with a radically unbalanced schedule like that, in the long run, it becomes unfair more often the other way. Furthermore - just win and the rest will take care of itself.

Fine, but had MSOE won today, they would have been co-champions, and a team below them in the overall standings would have received a bye while they have to play next week. It's a cluster-you-know-what all the way around.

The CCHA has an unbalanced schedule and they go by straight conference standings. It's better than this catastrophe.

It's only your perception. Nobody knows how those games that aren't played will come out. That can be just as unfair as this. The only fair way is to play a balanced schedule or play each division down to a single team.

This from a purely mathematical/theoretical point of view- but that's what I do. :D

Once we get to the semis, I don't think each division is played down to a single team, either. For the semis, they use straight conference seeding.

That's true. I did read the procedure. Ultimately what is significant is that it is a disadvantage to have to play an extra game, but once you win the first rounder, you just have to win, win, win ... (okay win, win... I got carried away)
