Do you have any pets? Cats or dogs?

In one of the coolest things we've done with nature in the yard, tonight we got to feed a flying squirrel by hand several times. Almost flew right into my hand

Pecans, man. Sciuridae heroin.

Today is National Black Cat Day. My daughter and her family has one.

I don't see cat color.

My favorite cat breed, Bombay, is solid black. They are amazing. They love to play and they can catch and fetch better than any dog breed.

All cats are IDGAF, but Bombays are actually patient with us and allow us to befriend them, sometimes, if we're not complete ape scum.

It would absolutely not surprise me to find there is a statistically-significant relationship between dislike of cats and authoritarian personality.

:-(

Edit: Well, OTOH, I'm very allergic to cats, so perhaps I don't dislike cats and I just have a pavlovian response to them.

It's psychosomatic.

Dr. Mrs. thought she was allergic just because she had to go to the hospital those few times. She got over it.

I found this. There is apparently a statistically-significant difference in preference: right: dogs, left: cats. Obviously they are overlapping curves; it is not deterministic.

I can imagine a conservative valuing the more servile animal to prop up his insecurity and fit into his rigidly hierarchical view of the world. But only as a thumb on the scale, as I'm sure the highest correlation is what you grew up with. I grew up with only cats, hence, cat person.

I also have a cat, and I'm thinking of getting a hamster to put his cage on my desk. In the meantime, cats can be quite mischievous at times, but their playful antics are just too cute to resist. Dogs, on the other hand, are incredibly loyal and make fantastic companions. Speaking of pet-related resources, I recently stumbled upon the PocketPets website, and it's been a game-changer for me. They've got a treasure trove of information and tips for all kinds of pets, from cats and dogs to birds and reptiles.
