Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

state of hockey

He fixes the cable?
Probably not.

But, I feel as though I get in the way of the NHL thread when I discuss them. You know, there are fans of teams that might do something over there.

Some of the line combinations have shown good chemistry, and the powerplay has been lethal. However, I am not holding my breath that they will sustain it. Oh well, as long as they continue to try and play an exciting brand of hockey and are relatively entertaining I'll be alright with them. Didn't really have any expectations for this year.

At least they've shown some promise (while battling some flu cases) - something that could not be said by this same point last season. Yeah, judgement should be reserved because I doubt they can carry this PP clip throughout, but again at least there's been plenty of scoring.

Cullen has been a beast so far. It's fun to see him in a Wild sweater.

Why not? It wouldnt be any more pointless than any of the other dozen or more pointless threads we already have.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

I'm wondering how Theodore will play in whatever limited duty he'll see this year. I think this team will be competitive if they can avoid injuries, but the playoffs? I don't know about that.

Considering the high density of those who cheer for the wild on this site, why the hell not.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

Well, that was a frustrating SO loss. But, all in all, that wasn't really a performance that deserved two points.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

Burns did a pretty good job against the other #8 last night. Backstrom got the win with 21 saves, every single one of which was ridiculous.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

We have a thread? And yeah...sounds like the defense is the problem right now.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

Where did they pull this Spurgeon kid from? He was a 6th rounder for the Islanders 2 years ago and now he's already playing in the NHL for the Wild...I'm confused.

But he got eight points in eight games in Houston! WOOOO!! I really don't know what to think of this franchise right now.

No, but Brown Hockey doesn't deserve a thread either, and they have one too, so I say go ahead. :p

But he's not terrible, he hasn't made any big mistakes with the wild.

The team just needs another year to put it together. Everyone knew it was going to take a couple years to turn the whole thing around, and this is year 2. If they look like this next year, I'll be singing a different tune, there should be significant progress at this point next season.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

Watching the Wild lately has been a snoozefest. Worse than they were under Lemaire. They still can't score, don't have one superstar, and defense is average at best. I've never been so bored watching them than I am this year.

Re: Do the 2010-2011 Minnesota Wild deserve a thread?

I thought for much of this season they were better than expected. Things fell apart at the end, and I suppose the coach has to held responsible for that. However, I don't think it was all his fault, either.
