Stupid decision by the wild.
Stupid decision by the wild.
Stupid decision by the wild.
Now they can hire one of those retread guys that jumps from team to team every two years. I can barely contain my excitement.
If Mike Keanen ends up here I am done.
I think I'll beat the rush and just be done now.
From the sounds of it the players quit listening to him anyway.
Can't fire all the players.
The team seems to be stuck in no man's land: they aren't bad enough to build through the draft, and they aren't good enough to make the playoffs. With their personnel, I don't know if a good coach will matter all that much - exactly how much is a coach worth win-wise? Even if they stole a guy like Babcock, it might only be good enough to get them up to 8th in the West with their lack of firepower / depth.
I say it's time to blow up the roster.
I know you missed the playoffs, but you did ruin Dallas' playoffs hopes. I think Wild fans will enjoy that.
Here is my list of Wild players who are untouchable:
Thoughts?
...which is why I said blow it up. Really, what the **** can they build around with their current roster? They have a couple decent players, but they don't have any elite ones. It's time to trade away everybody with a salary over $3 million for draft picks. With any luck, in 3 years, the team will be in the playoffs again, and perhaps in 4-5 years, will be contending for actual hardware for once.
Depends on how long it takes to clear the bad contracts off the books. I want to see them get as close to the salary FLOOR as possible, then they can take picks & prospects in exchange for taking on expiring contracts so that other teams can make moves at the trade deadline.
This only makes sense as a move because I have faith that Fletcher wont **** the picks down the drain like DR would have.
I don't think that firing Richards is going to make the team any better at all, my fear is that they will try and make moves to win now and make the playoffs as an 8 seed. This team has no real franchise cornerstone player, and isn't going to get one by picking in the 7-12 spots of the draft.
Try and trade up in the draft maybe? Although it would be awfully costly to do, it would likely dump salary space and give them a shot at a cornerstone franchise player? (I'm just throwing random stuff out there, the team's going nowhere fast.)
But at some point does it become worth it if the team has one or two ****ty, ****ty years to become youthful and contending? I totally agree with your point, I'm just throwing possibilities out hereNo, the cost would be way to high for a team that has many, many holes to fill.
