And Cornell is just a whisker behind Harvard and a smidgen behind BC in the RPI.
If Minnesota were to play Cornell in a playoff game (no ties), the probability that Minnesota would win is 95.6%. If the NCAA tournament was held today, I would estiamte the probability of Minnesota winning at around 88%. The difference between Minnesota and Cornell is roughly the same as the difference between Cornell (#2) and Providence (#18).
No. The 2006-07 Badgers came closest with a 36-1-4 record, with the only loss coming against UMD over Thanksgiving weekend in Madison. The ties came against Minnesota at home, at UMD, and twice at St. Cloud State. An even better question....Has there ever been a team in D1 that went undefeated ?.
(I know Plattsburgh did it one year in D3, circa 2005/2006 if memory serves me correctly. Their undefeated record did include a couple of ties.)
I already looked at the UNH Media Guide when Hux first brought the Wildcats' streak up; when one's personal familiarity with the game doesn't extend too far into the previous century, resource documents come in handy. This link shows the actual games and dates, season by season, in the UNH Media Guide (not sure if this link will work or not...but I know ARM will check it out )

winning that many games in a row is an incredible pressure, i don't care who you are playing against.

This season has had a couple of interesting stroylines. The first is the Minnesota being undefeated and seeing how high their rating would go. The other is how different these rankings are from the final RPI and PWR ranks. Can't complain too much, since Mercyhurst made the final 8 while by my rankings suggest they should have been replaced by Wisconsin.
Maybe there should be a special NCAA rule that disqualifies a team from participating in the NCAA tournament if they lose 3 times to RMU, call it the personal pride rule. Sort of like the time that Notre Dame declined an invitation to a bowl game after an embarrassing season. All kidding aside the MC schedule was a joke, 3 loses to RMU, 12 games against Lindenwood, Penn State, and RIT. Someone explain again the criticism of the WCHA teams that played LW twice.

Looks like another extremely challenging path to the CHA Championship for MercyHurst. Hope they can survive!
At the same time, I saw Wisconsin play six times this year and if that was one of the eight best teams in the country then it really has been a down season for women's hockey.
