Re: Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

Minnesota Duluth's 4 early signees (note: Astrup had been widely reported, including here, as verbally committing to UND):

Just curious, who are some of the big fish for this class that are still uncommitted? Off the top of my head I have Hannah Miller. Any others?

To Harvard (per Twitter)

Danielle Krzyszczyk, F, St Mary's Academy/CAN U18s (Winnipeg, MB)

Looks like Harvard has another huge recruiting class coming in but man, how do they have so many scholarships?

Also this was a while back but looks like it hasn't been posted here.

It's a whole different world in the Ivies: no athletic scholarships; if you want to play just three games your freshman year and then concentrate on other aspects of your life (as one recruit to the Class of '12 did at Harvard), you keep whatever needs-based financial aid you have (or don't have) for the next four years and life goes on for the team.

While all of the above is true, I would be surprised if all of these names make it through admissions. Harvard at the very least gives the appearance of over recruiting knowing they will not support all of their recruits in admissions.

Not official, but Connecticut appears to have the inside track on this prolific scorer from Wisconsin:

Knutson among nation's all-time top scorers in girls hockey

That national high school record for points isn't very comprehensive, as it seems to be missing Minnesota's all-time career points leader, Renee Curtin with 544, and likely, many others. Krissy was great, but playing only two years of girls hockey, it is hard to set huge career numbers. Natalie didn't play HS her junior or senior season either.

And the balance and level of play overall is so much better today than it was back then that it's much harder to top the old records, inaccurate as they may be. Still elements of wide disparity and lack of depth in some outstate areas of Minnesota, and I suspect most of Wisconsin as well. Even so, scoring that many goals and points is quite the accomplishment for Miss Knutson. If it was that easy, someone else would have done it by now.

Ronda had 249-216 for 465 in four seasons. Renee had 544 in six seasons.

LOL, good one. I expect that a large number of you have figured out the identity of the fool behind the smoke, mirrors and bluster.
