DIII Scoreboard

At this point I think 4 NESCACs are in unless a combination of Plattsburgh, Adrian and GAC get upset but stay above the NESCAC schools in line with Pool C.

I think Amherst is a lock even if they go out in the NESCAC semifinal given that they're #1 right now.

I think Hamilton is also a lock unless a loss to Midd in their NESCAC semi is somehow impactful enough to knock them 4 slots down. If they stay in 4th or 5th they wouldn't have to worry about the nightmare (for the NESCAC) scenario where all three of Plattsburgh, Adrian and GAC because they would beat out GAC for the last Pool C in that scenario.

Midd and Colby need to worry about not only multiple of the three Pool As above being upset but if Eau Claire pulling off a win against River Falls in the WIAC Championship is enough to put the Blugolds ahead of one or both of them without knocking the Falcons behind them.

Unfortunately for us Plattsburgh fans, the Pairwise updated and Amherst remains ever so slightly in front of Plattsburgh at #1. If both win their game next weekend, I expect Plattsburgh will pass Amherst by beating 14-9-2 Canton, while Amherst plays 8-14-1 Wesleyan, but if both win their tournaments, I have to imagine Amherst playing the likes of Middlebury and Hamilton in two games the final weekend would be enough to retake #1 as Plattsburgh would have just the one game against Cortland or Oswego.

If both the Cardinals and Mammoths win their conference tournaments, it’s sure to be close no matter what, and I’ll admit I’m mostly just guessing based on my understanding of how the math works. Plattsburgh could also be hurt by River Falls and/or Adrian losing in one of their tournaments, too.

i guess the only thing that’s certain is that there may only be 2 weekends remaining, but there are still WAY too many variables at play.

I just want to call out that I was wrong on this point, which just serves to emphasize that Plattsburgh NEEDS Amherst to lose in the NESCAC playoffs for the Cardinals to be the #1 seed. But, in the interest of not getting ahead of ourselves, step 1 is still winning the NEWHL. Lose that, and Plattsburgh might fall to 3 or 4.

Can anyone explain Pairwise in terms the average person could understand, other than just the math is the math? The RPI ranking seem to follow the Pairwise or vis a versa, but the win % does not make sense to me. how is Hamilton 5th in Pairwise with the 10th win % ahead of 6th Pairwise River Falls with 5th win %, likewise how are Pairwise 7 & 8 Middlebury 17 win % and Colby 14th Win % ahead of Pairwise 9th Eau Claire 7 win %. Also, how is Middlebury away of Colby in Pairwise? Like wise 1st in Pairwise Amherst is 3rd in Win % to #2 Plattsburgh 1st in Win %. It appears to me that if you are in any other conference other than the NESCAC you loss you drop in Pairwise, losing in the NASCAC doesn't seem to hurt your Pairwise rank.

The way I understand is that RPI is the first and most weighted part of the PWR. Then comes Winning percentage. Winning percentage and SOS somehow determine the RPI.

And don't forget opponents' opponent SOS.

What PWR tries to measure is not just whether you win or lose, but the quality of the wins and losses. So 4and20, don't get too hung up over the win percentage of a team. Look further into who they played, and who those teams played, to be able to see how tough of a schedule someone has.

Going 25-0 but playing all cupcakes can rank you below a team going say 22-3 who played all powerhouses.

Stream working for anyone for the Norbert-Aurora game?

No, the links on both SNC and Aurora sites bring you to the Adrian site from the afternoon game. Guess Adrian does not care to televise the other semi-final!

Both SNC and Aurora Web sites list game as postponed until tomorrow at 2:00pm due to Power outage. Guess the home team gets a extra day off assuming the championship will now be Sunday, or they just have the winner of the SNC/Aurora play Back to Back tomorrow.

Power outage at Arrington pushes the SNC/Aurora semifinal to 2pm tomorrow.

Winner takes on Adrian for the NCHA Championship on Sunday at Noon

Amherst wins 2-0. They controlled play pretty much the entire game.

Amherst has speed, a hot goalie (11 shutouts as a freshman) and one of the best forechecks I've seen all season

End of 1st for the 4 live games right now:

MIAC Final - Augsburg 0 - Gustavus Adolphus 2
NCHA Semifinal - SNC 1 - Aurora 0
NEWHL Final - Cortland 0 - Plattsburgh - 0
UCHC Final - Utica 0 - Nazareth 0

The NEWHL Final has been very defensive, not the high number of shots on goal as normal between these 2.
According to live stats GAC has held Augsburg without a shot in the first period

Plattsburgh wins 2-0 Punches their ticket. Will it be #2 or #1 ??

Norwich beats Elmira 2-0 to take the NEHC Pool A. Both teams were below the Pool C line in the bracketology so there's no downstream effect on other teams getting in, but there is in geography for Adrian.

Utica has come back from an early 1-0 deficit and has dominated the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead. 2nd almost over.

GAC has won the MIAC 4-2.

River Falls has some clock to kill to take home the WIAC with a 5-1 win but they were a Pool B lock anyway.

SNC advances to the NCHA Final tomorrow with a 5-1 win over Aurora.

Ok, I notice on Pairwise before todays games Eau Claire was 9 followed by Elmira at 10. Eau Claire losses to River Falls who was/is 6 in Pairwise, Elmira losses to Norwich who is 15 in Pairwise. Pairwise updated results in Elmira now 9 and Eau Claire 10. How does a team losses to a team below them in Pairwise pass another team that losses to a team ahead of them in Pairwise? Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't bother checking until all games are complete for the day.

Suffolk wins the CCC Championship 2-1 over Endicott.

Two Pool A bids left.

Hamilton at Amherst tonight at 7:30 PM for the NESCAC Championship
SNC at Adrian tomorrow at Noon Eastern for the NCHA Championship.

It looks like we have a 4-NESCAC-team tournament barring an SNC upset.

4 NESCAC teams in the field and a fucking 10 seed in the quarterfinals. Go ahead and post the “This is fine” dog in the burning house meme now. NCAA at an all time low
