DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 1/4-1/10

Re: DIII Posters' POTW for the week of 1/4-1/10

I dont know what TacoRob sees in the kid but I was definitely impressed with Leis. Sure he had one or two pucks rolls off his glove but he also made some impressive saves that reminded me of Kevin Amborski a little bit in the way Amborski stole the show from Oswego in the SUNYAC semis in 2007.

Memories of Amborski's night at the CC still brings a frown to my face:(

I think that game (save maybe the Norwich Quarterfinal game and any Plattsburgh game) was the game I was most into at the Campus Center. (Romney trumps all CC games)

I can remember throwing my hat down about five times in just absolute disbelief at the some of the saves Kevin Amborski had. I wanted to break stuff I was so infuriated with Amborski robbing the Lakers left and right.

It was actually a pretty cool atmosphere with the Fredonia pep band there.

The only problem I had with that game was the final. But it was still a great game and I know i had to have witnessed one of the finest goaltending performances D-III has seen recently.

I would nominate Adrian's Brad Fogal, who kept the Bulldogs in the game against Oswego as long as he was in net, but IMO that stupid play behind the net killed his chances of POTW.

SO now, I'm going to nominate Elmra's Casey Tuttle. 37 saves, 0.974 save percentage, and a 0.923 GAA (there was OT) in 1 game against Plattsburgh.

Also, I'm going to throw in an addendum to Prez's statement about Neil Musselwhite, which I agree with. I'm looking at the box score, and I see a 5x5, a 4x4, and an Empty netter... no SHG, as Prez said he got. Just saying.

That being said, here are the nominees so far (as always, in order nominated with Goalies moved to the bottom for comparison):

Code:
Neil Musselwhite (OSW), 1 game, 3-1-4, HT, 1 GWG
Jordan Chong (STS), 2 games, 3-1-4, 1 GWG
Colin MacLennan (POT), 2 games, 2-0-2, 1 OT-GWG
Connor Treacy (POT), 2 games, 1-2-3
Kyle Thomas (NRW), 3 games, 3-0-3, HT
Colin MacCormack (BOW), 3 games, 3-3-6, 2 SHG
Jeff Fanning (BOW), 3 games, 3-1-4, HT, 2 GWG
D'Arcy Thomas (BFS), 2 games, 2-3-5

Scott Barchard (TUF), 2 games, 79 saves, 0.963 sv%, 1.500 GAA
Arthur Hollinger (CST), 2 games, 51 saves, 0.981 sv%, 0.500 GAA, 1 SO
Josh Leis (PLT), 1 game, 41 saves, 0.976 sv%, 0.923 GAA
Casey Tuttle (ELM), 1 game, 37 saves, 0.974 sv%, 0.923 GAA

Now remember, the nomination window is still open until 10pm ET. Although 11 nominations is more than we've ever had.

Agreed..atmosphere was awesome with the Fredonia support there.

You felt so upset with Amborski and yet at the same time had to appreciate what he was doing.

I'm an Oswego fan and one of the few people that were actually at the Adrian/Oswego game on Friday...

Hey- Attendance 1741 (including me). Yeah, yeah, I know what you meant. As my ex used to say "Do what I meant, not what I said."

Seriously, Musselwhite has been outstanding for the last few weeks, but I'll agree with the Prez. Two of the three were actual or essentially open-netters (not that being in the right place at the right time isn't an important skill), so the numbers look better than the goals did (although they all looked pretty darn good at the time).

On the other hand, if Neil had been out for the night the score could have been 2-1 Adrian.... And that's a "game changer".

Is this a formal Poll? i.e. is there a link to submit a vote? If there is, I apologize, I've not been able to locate it. If it's staring me in the face ... go easy on me ... I'm new.

You should see "Polls" under "Sub-Forums : Men's Division II and III" at the top of the page, but if not, here is the link.
