DIII game notes

Re: DIII game notes

Currently 6-1 Plattsburgh. Chatham's Gallaway just got 5:00 and an ejection for body checking. Meneghin was down for a few minutes and got helped off the ice and back to the locker room.

EDIT: Meneghin is back on the bench a few minutes later.

Wesleyan website shows them beating Conn Coll 2-1. Shots 30-23 for Conn. Big win for Wesleyan!

Fortunately I missed this weekend's action from Wesly....But it's painfully obvious that Conn has regressed badly...Their offense is so bad that unless they get a shutout [as they did on Sat] they literally can't win a game. And the stupid [mostly offensive zone] penalties are just inexcusable...But since there are no consequences from the coach for selfish play [oh look, a 3 on 1 but why pass when i can shoot from a bad angle and hit the goalie's glove]...and dumb penalties....which continue unabated game after game after game, there won't be any improvement. Here's a hint....Spending nearly an entire period in the box will hurt your chances of winning.

Perhaps Plattsburgh shouldn't run up the score and this doesn't happen?

Re: DIII game notes

Anyone see the Adrian Concordia game? Concordia had them 4-4 going into the 3rd. I don't think Adrian is a top 4 team.

Where does CT College fall to in the polls? Last week #8. Endicott loses to Middlebury 3-0, they might fall off. Oswego splits with Utica, they probably stay still. Elmira & Platt both 2 weekend wins vs bottom teams. Also Riverfalls with 2 vs Northland. Norwich might be moving on up.

Re: DIII game notes

That was a statement that is uncalled for, as was the hit.

Hey now... it was a question. Hockey is emotional sport, can't you see how a player on the other team might have had enough of Platt? I didn't see the hit and I don't know the player in question but I have been around hockey enough to know that hits like that happen. Typically not on the women's side but they do happen. BTW... was it a clean body check? And yes I know body checking isn't allowed in the Women's game.

1. No. When your team has already lost by 6 or more goals 1/3 of the season (thank god the schedule Leb Valley and JW on the NC side)....they are use to being blown out.

2. Houle, if you read, benched his 1st and 2nd line for pretty much the entire 3rd period Game 1.

3. It was only 3-1 going into the third period of game 2.

4. You could clearly see Plattsburgh was trying to pass more and could have had at least a dozen more shots on goal.

5. The hit would have been a 2 minute penalty in the Men's side. Period. How Meneghin even came back to the bench is beyond me. She was said to have cleared concussion protocol, but watching her skate to the bench you could see her feet were not stable. (by the way, she didn't play more that night).

6. I've seen cheaper and dirtier hits, and by no means was this one of the worst, but still uncalled for at this level of hockey. 5 and a game was the correct call. "Emotions" or not does not make it right or allowable. If you've been around hockey so long, you'd probably know how ***** it feels when a team plays 5-man (everyone touches the puck before you shoot) on you. Plattsburgh took their foot off of the pedal, all weekend. Don't like it? Get better. Actually watching the hit, I don't think it was a malicious dirty intent to injure hit (tho the elbow up to the head was a tad uncalled for), but at the same time it wasn't a "opps we ran into each other going for the puck" hit.

Correct call, is what it is. But saying it was due to the "running up the score" is clueless....

Those scores against Chatham are not uncommon. What is Plattsburgh supposed to do, just keep icing the puck when they're up big? Score some own goals to help them back in it? If they don't like giving up 17 goals in a weekend play better hockey...

In 3 straight games against LVC, Chatham won 6-1, 6-1 and 8-0. Should the LVC players have started taking them out for running up the score? Bet they wouldn't have been ok with that...

Why does Chatham even bother? Each and every year it's the same thing!! Give it up. Save the bus fuel!

Re: DIII game notes

Realistically, when two teams that far apart in talent level share the ice, there is no good way for the "better" team to go about it. You either gets called a poor sport for running up the score, or you get called a poor sport for blatantly taking your foot off the gas. Either scenario is frustrating and demoralizing to the other team.

That said, when two top-quality teams face off, running up the score is acceptable. If Plattsburgh plays like **** against Elmira or Norwich, I fully expect them to try to beat Plattsburgh as badly as possible, just as it is totally fine that Plattsburgh bet Elmira 7-1 last year and put 9 in the net against Norwich in the final game of 2014.
