DIII game notes

Re: DIII game notes

The Elmira women's hockey coach is still listed on the website if you go to Inside Athletics, then click Staff Directory.

Probably an oversight and just hasn't been changed yet.

Also, let's not forget what this weekend is really about...remembering #4. Wish I could be there to honor Laura and her family.

Re: DIII game notes

Neumann scored in the first 23 seconds and held Plattsburgh to no goals throught the first period. Shots pretty even at 11-9 Plattsburgh.

Neumann

's Bek [or Rebecca] Lucas....IMO one of the best D3 forwards in the nation....sort of a one-woman show on that team.

Tied for 13th in goals per game last season nationally, not on the leaderboard in PPG or assists. There are 7 Plattsburgh players including a defenseman who had her beat in points per game. But one of the best in the nation.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.... if you say so...

Did live stats go down? This first intermission has been way too long.

Last Live stats I saw had Neumann up 2-1. shots were 39-12 in Plattsburgh's favor.

EDIT: 2-2. Kiraly early 3rd. Now 7:30 or so left

Kristen Lewicki has become Adrian's all-time leading scorer at 124 points, passing Kelsey Kusch's record of 122. With her next goal, Kristen will pass Kusch's school record of 62 as well.

10 PPG's in that game between the 2 teams. Wow! Also, congrats to KLew.

Re: DIII game notes

Yeah, I caught that, too. Apparently the penalty kill was not on the docket last night on either side.

Re: DIII game notes

Plattsburgh scored 3 goals within 3 minutes of each other in the first Ames and Kiraly each with 2 points. It looks like it's going to be the same thing as last week: close game in the first game of the weekend and then taking it handily in Game 2.

Edit: Cards add another goal shortly before the end of the 1st to end the period up 4-0. Meneghin has two goals, Ames and Songin have one goal and one assist and Sheeran, Kiraly, Brand and Turk round out with 1 assist each.

Edit 2: Kraus added Plattsburgh goal #5 with help from Kiraly's second assist of the day. Scoreless third finishes out a Plattsburgh 5-0 win and a weekend sweep of Neumann.

Edit 3: Looks like there was a correction giving an assist to Sheeran on Meneghin's first goal that was originally credited to Kiraly.

ok clueless one...Here's something to ponder....I'm guessing Plattsburgh is just 'slightly' better than Neumann, correct?...if she played for Plattsburgh you can bet she'd have more points than anyone on Platty...It's amazing how many goals you can score when you have skilled people passing you the puck and you get to play in the other teams end all game long. :p

You can't bet that Lucas would have more points. I've seen a few forwards transfer from Plattsburgh to go on to be one of the better forwards on other teams. Ashton Hogan was a 4th liner at Plattsburgh, she goes to Elmira and becomes a top 6 forward and All-American. Mackenzie Lee went from a Plattsburgh 4th liner as an underclassman to leading Oswego in points both seasons she played there after transferring. Lizzie Aveson (Sydney's little sister) barely played the one season at Plattsburgh, transferred to UM Boston and was the 4th best scorer they had and is at the leaderboard early this season.

Unless Lucas actually plays for the Cards your claim has no way to be validated. I could just as easily predict she'd be playing on the bottom 6 like the three I just mentioned.

Scott Scott Scott... your post shows your ignorance & bias. What you are saying is that all of Alabama Football's Team would go pro and be stars. We all know that is not true but never the less they are the #1 team. The girl from Neumann is better than any of your platty girls... she just plays on a team with out a supporting cast. BTW... Jordan Ott is way better than all of them! Perhaps best in the ECAC West.

And given where each of them play and with whom they play, we will never have any objective data to either back up or refute your claims that both of them are better than every single Plattsburgh player. It may be true, or it may not. We'll never really know, will we? Yes, Scott is biased. Yes, I am biased. But so are you, unless you're a robot with an absolutely perfect AI. Which is why intentionally provocative statements like yours (and Scott's) are not conducive to meaningful debate and discussion when the objective data to support either opinion cannot exist.

That said, I do agree with your argument that the limitations of the teammates makes it difficult to judge Lucas and Ott on numbers alone, while the fact that everyone on Plattsburgh's roster is a fantastic hockey player makes it difficult to do the same with the Plattsburgh women, and therefore Scott shouldn't be too quick to dismiss Lucas.
