DIII 2010 -- 11 Schedules

Re: DIII 2010 -- 11 Schedules

I noticed that too. Looks like the Norwich Tournament replaced those two games.

For as many times as Elmira and Middlebury have played, Middlebury has only been to Elmira ONCE and that was for an NCAA Tournament game. Maybe Fargo got sick of no return trip?

EC could still end up playing one or both of Amherst/Middlebury at the Panther-Cardinal classic like the post below indicates.

Now I'm intrigued to know who's coming to the Norwich Tourney.

It'll be Elmira/Midd, Platty/Amherst in the first round of the PC Classic, as per tradition, I would imagine. Point being to get the two host schools to compete in the final. Because we all saw how well that went last year...

Are there Commies in your closet? Why would you think that? If the plan was for Platty and Midd to win the first round and play in the final, they wouldn't have invited Amherst and Elmira. The logic for having Elmira/Midd and Platty/Amherst is to guarantee that at least two of the four games are inter-conference. The truth of the matter is you have four of the traditional top Eastern teams together, and regardless of what happens on day one, the day two matchups in both games will be just as good.

well...every year since its been the panther/cardinal classic, that's the way its been. two of the four games would be inter-conference regardless.

From E-Mail I received Today

October 29 – The women open their season at home here at Kreitzberg Arena. They will be hosting the East / West Classic, a new tournament, featuring New England College, RIT, Elmira, and of course Norwich.

East/West Classic? Leave it to Norwich to call a tournament with ECAC-East and ECAC-West teams the East/West Classic... despite the complete lack of West-Region teams. At least the men's team is, in their as-of-yet-unnamed tournament (Times-Argus pulled out of the sponsorship), hosting ONE West-Region team!

Maybe that's why they called it the East/West classic. Referencing the match-ups between the ECAC East and ECAC West. On the RIT schedule it already shows them playing NEC on the second day. No Championship game or consolation game.

Thats the what I Thought it meant

ECAC East vs ECAC West.

Re: DIII 2010 -- 11 Schedules

All of the ECAC West schedules are up on USCHO.com

Elmira fans....Does anyone know why the RIT/EC game are split. both are at Elmira but separate weekends. just curious.

And Hamilton College should get a good feel where they stand against the West teams. All 8 NC games vs ECACwest, leaving off Platty and Chatham.

No NC games listed for Chatham. Can we expect this team to fold soon?

Can't wait for the season. You know it's close when the schedules start getting posted.

Re: DIII 2010 -- 11 Schedules

Well, what else would you call it?

Powers &8^]

The ECAC DIII Women's Classic? I mean, since there are only 2 ECAC leagues in DIII women's hockey, and this tournament is 2 from each league...

When I hear East/West, I think it must have something to do with inter-regional games.

i think its funny that an easterner is making this argument. I thought you people considered "western" hockey inferior so inherently an east/west tourney would pair eastern east teams with western east teams.

Perhaps that's the way the Norwich people at looking at it. I, on the other hand, respect that some good hockey is being played in the West Region. Have they been successful on the national stage in women's DIII? No. But does that mean they never will be? absolutely not.

Please don't group me with the West-region haters. I'm an easterner, and proud of it, but I have a great deal of respect for the massive potential out in the Great Lakes and Midwest.
