4-3 final.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

I seriously question whether we will make the playoffs. Fulmer is tired and I don;t think his arm will stay good unless he gets some rest. Frankie is an adventure every time he goes in. He has not pitched well in a month. Sanchez is up and down. If we get Zimmermann back maybe he will be good, but the last time he came off the DL he was terrible.
not to mention JD swinging at a lot of sliders out of the zone and nick still on the DL.
I know they have played well in spurts, but I just think they have to be better.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

And don't forget that Maybin might have screwed up his hand again tonight.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

JaCoby Jones just got his first major league hit. It was an RBI double that put us up 4-3 in the 6th,

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

And now he's got his 2nd career hit to push the lead to 8-4.

8-4 final.

Big two-out hit by JD Martinez ties the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the eight. A JaCoby Jones double(!) followed by a Tyler Collins(!!!) sac fly wins it in the bottom of the ninth.

7-6 final.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Hoo boy. A little too close for comfort there. It'd be nice if the Indians would help them out a little bit, but at least Detroit is keeping pace. Tigers pulled into tie with Baltimore for the last wild card spot last night too.

UPTON!!

Three-run shot makes it 5-2 in the top of the 10th.

5-3 in 11 innings.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

And Maybin might have just jacked up his thumb again, diving into 1st base while getting doubled off.

JFC. I'm starting to wonder if he's just a stupid human being. Told us 2 weeks ago that he was done diving, and that he had to protect his thumb. Two days later he jams it diving into to 2nd trying to steal. Now he can play again, and he goes and does that.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

The Tigers entered the bottom of the 8th with a 4-3 lead. You know it has gone horribly wrong when Mark Lowe has to come in with 1 out and mop up what might not end up as a save situation for the White Sox.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

At least it felt like it had been a while since we had had one of those.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Unless the Tigers have a complete reversal of fortune against Cleveland, these next three games are probably the biggest of the year.

1-0 Tigers B4, but they had runners on 1st and 3rd, nobody out, with Miggy coming up in the third and got nada. That's probably going to come back to cost them.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Seven innings two runs allowed and no decision for Fulmer after Alex Wilson ****es away a 3-2 lead in three batters.

Victor!!

4-3 bottom 8.

K-Rod closes it out for a 4-3 win. Tigers are back into a tie with the Orioles for the last wild card spot with two more against Baltimore.
