KINSLER!!

4-2 Tribe, top 5

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Well, it's 7-2 in the 6th. Might as well bring in Buck Futter.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

You know Verlander is just so inconsistent. he's not really a number 1 if you ask me and a marginal number 2.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Well, the problem is, without him we don't have a #1. Zimmerman is bound to cool off shortly, even if only a little bit. He's not going to pitch to a sub-1.00 ERA all year. And the 2nd half of last season, he was absolutely money, a lot more like the Verlander of old.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Ohhh, I thought Upton had one there. I'll still happily take a double, though. Now let's get him in.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Right on time, Sanchez makes an absolute mess in the bottom of the 4th.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Well really he stranded himself there. but well...

Well, I don't think there was a whole lot there he could do. He wouldn't have scored on the single that sent him to third, and the ball that turned into the double play was right to the 3B. Upton would have been thrown out at the plate by 40 feet had he tried to score. Then Gose took a called 3rd to kill the whole thing, which is a whole different discussion right there.

I don't know what to make of all this. Cleveland has kicked our *** for 5 straight games now, accounting for 5 of our 12 losses. I don't know if it's as simple as they just have our number at the moment, or if the other issues just happen to be presenting themselves against the Tribe.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Wow. It's 6:30 and the Tigers might already be out of this one. Impressive.

4-0 Cleeeeveland, 1 out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

They're killing this kid's hard stuff. Fastball, slider, doesn't matter. He has no changeup. They're going to barbecue him until he develops one.

CASTELLANOS!!

4-3 Tribe, top 4

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

So Dartmouth Brad picked tonight to play BOTH utility guys. Okay, fine. You gotta use the whole roster. I get it.

So what happens? First Romine almost kills JD in the outfield by almost running him over on a ball that JD clearly called for (that's the CF job, to take charge in situations like that). And now Aviles completely blows a tailor-made DP ball in the 8th. We WERE in this game until the 8th, somehow.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

9-3 now as Hardy tosses a cookie to Brantley that gets rocketed into the RF corner, right on the line.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

I don't there's going to be a dull moment in the outfield tonight, fellas. First Aviles takes a poor angle leading to the first run of the game. Then he makes up for it with a nice running catch in foul territory. After that he nearly ran over Kinsler from behind coming in on a fly ball.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

5-0 in the 9th. We've got one hit. We're done here, folks.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

So nice to see Pelfrey starting early today. It only took Odor 3 pitches to pound one out.
