Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Finally get a W, Ausmus promptly admits he was going to pinch hit for Mahtook. *facepalm*

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Let me get this straight: Neftali Feliz didn't pitch too badly in his time in Detroit?

Are you ****ing kidding me, Rod?!?!?!

HE HAD A 7.62 ERA AND A 1.482 WHIP! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU LOOKING AT!?!?

5-3 final.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

36-45 at the halfway point after Verlander got shelled today. That's a 72-90 split that will surely get worse after this team trades off a couple pieces at the end of this month.

@noahtrister
..., #Tigers (36-45) will have their worst record at the 81-game mark since 2003, when they were 20-61.

Where were the Tigers at the 81 game mark when they lost 119 games in a season?

Never mind. 2003 WAS that historic, painful, gut-wrenching, bag over the head season. I remember cheering for the Tigers to lose game 120 and go into the record books.

Cubs are trying to deal for JV and Avila. Good, at this point I'm looking forward to a long term rebuild. It would be kind of fun to load up on prospects again.

6-2 final.

Dirty Sanchez turns in a nice 6-inning outing.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Zimmerman is dog**** again tonight, as he cannot get a single out in the 4th inning.

Chad Bell enters and immediately walks the first batter (and that was the best case scenario, as the preceding pitch went 340 feet and foul by about 6 inches), and now we're down 5-1 with the bases juiced and 1 out after a force at home.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Holy pants. Bell induces a 4-6-3 inning ending DP. No damage done at all.

Wow.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Lindor triples in 2 more. 8-2 in the 6th.

I'm going to go sort bills now.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

Justin Wilson is in the game with 1 out in the 8th and a 5-3 lead.

It would not surprise me in the least to see us blow this one.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 9: The Carlos Guillen edition

If you don't catch the ball in the strike zone, you're not going to get the called 3rd strike, right or wrong.

5-3 final.

9 games under .500 headed into the break at 39-48.
