Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

Verlander won't be quite himself, but will Verlander his way through 7 innings of 5-hit ball and the Tigers will stake him to an 8-2 lead. Then Ausmus will break out a Ouija board to decide who to pitch for each batter in the 8th and 9th and you'll walkoff 11-10.

*stacks sandbag*

Problem is, that's not necessarily a sandbag this year.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

So after losing the first game of this series because Ausmus was "saving Alex Wilson for extra innings" while his bullpen ****ed away a four-run lead, they're going to lose this game because Ausmus decided to save Wilson until after the game was already lost(even though the Tigers will dick tease in the bottom of the 12). Buy or sell, Ausmus shouldn't be manager of this team by next Monday.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

And now the whole pen is taxed, headed to Fenway. This is going to be a fiasco.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

Ok seriously have you paid any attention to other teams? Red Sox are in a free fall. They'll be lucky to score four runs all weekend.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

No. We're trying to bail out the Titanic now that we've hit the iceberg and broke in half.

We're throwing Verlander, Simon and Greene this weekend. Simon has an ERA somewhere around $TEXAS since Memorial Day, and I can't remember the last time Greene got through the 6th. And our bullpen is shot to hell. We scored 19 runs in the last three games. And walked away with exactly one win.

We're both falling. It might end up being a contest to see just who is going to bounce higher off the pavement.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

Just saw this in the Detroit News:

The Tigers began the day 10 1/2 games behind the division-leading Royals, and they ended it four games behind the Twins for the final wild-card spot. And though they’re headed to Boston to face the last-place Red Sox next, they’re also trotting out three starters at Fenway Park — Justin Verlander, Alfredo Simon and Shane Greenewho’ve combined for a 9.40 ERA in the month of July.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

Sell baby, sell!

Price gets no run support. I'd demand a trade at this point.

I would grant his wish.

We started 11-2. Since then we are 10 games under .500. It now takes 43-24 the rest of the way to touch 90 wins. And 90 wins has missed the AL wildcard two of the three years since the start of this format.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

I'm telling you. Ping-pong scores.

And the Red Sox go 0 - 7 for the road trip (1st time since 1951). Two walk off dingers on the trip by the oppo. There could be an ugly scene this weekend at Fenway. Sharknado 4 should be filming in Boston this weekend.

Yes, Virginia. SyFy has greenlighted Sharknado 4. I can hardly wait!

KC is the only AL team that is going to reach 90 wins this year. But there's no way the Tigers get to the 85 or whatever it's going to take to make the playoffs.

The real shame is that there's no trouble coming up with at least four or five games the Tigers lost directly because of Ausmus' dip**** managing, which just coincidentally, is how far out of a playoff spot they are right now.

Nothing like on the job training for a new manager with a roster whose window is slamming shut.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

Either >3 or zero. This is one of the most bipolar offenses I've ever seen. Haven't watched Porcello since he left Detroit, but if he's able to keep the ball down like he used to it will be zero tonight.

How many red lights will Hammer post tonight?

If Verlander starts getting bombed, and it ends up 8-1 in the 3rd inning, there might be a quite a few.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

I do know this: Rod and Mario do NOT get along. And Mario has a sterling reputation among fellow broadcasters. That should tell us all quite a bit.

I used to think that was just a rumor, but I've heard from a couple people in the Detroit media that more or less said it's true, which I find so surprising. Their chemistry is so good and baseball announcers have to spend so much time together you'd think it would be impossible to be with someone you hate. Still, there are times in the broadcast where they set up a conversation like it's a planned window for the audience to learn about them, but the rest of the conversation ends up sounding like they really didn't know seemingly obvious things about each other.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 8: The Doc Cramer edition

If you want a crew that gets along very well, read about Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper, who do the Giants' games. ESPN did a story about them last fall. Warning: it might get a little dusty around your house if you read it.
