I'm pretty sure Sale didn't make the binoculars sign until he was in the dugout after he was already out of the game. Like I said, it was pretty obvious by Sale's reaction after Martinez's previous at-bat that hitting him was intentional. He probably should have been tossed as soon as he did.
I may be off-baseD), but I'm not sure why Sale didn't get tossed after his binoculars impression, after he'd beaned Martinez. Couldn't one of the ump crew put 2 and 2 together and figure out this was intentional? Unless of course he got a pass because it was retaliation for the Unwritten Code being violated.
