Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

I am now convinced that Little Caesars, Sam Bernstein, and Fanatic U all aim their ads at the same target market: ghetto thugs and downriver white trash.

When Little Caesar's was dubbed the Best Pizza in Detroit, who voted? The same downriver white trash?

That's gotta be the case. The same people that still wear their Kirk Maltby jerseys and fly their Red Wing car flags in the middle of July.

Seriously. They're serious. *shakes head and reaches for a shovel, taking aim at ad men in general, and Little Caesars ad writers in particular*

10 Ks for Smyly thru 5. Amazingly, his pitch count is only at 67.

Now you watch. He'll have a 35 pitch inning in either the 6th or 7th.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Bases loaded, 2 out, Hunter at the plate. He proceeds to cool off the entire ballpark with three colossal whiffs. Thanks, Torii. Completely useful there.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

And this is why you don't play grab-dick with the bases loaded.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Ausmus tossed for arguing a challenged call, but that's the rule.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

What the hell is Rod Allen yammering about? Ausmus got run before he got 2 steps out of the dugout.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

How on earth did Torii Hunter ever manage to win a Gold Glove?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Austin Jackson proving yet again that it is possible to play baseball with your head up your ***.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Castellanos got a finger dinged up in BP today. Miggy playing 3B and VMart at 1st.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

My thoughts regarding the offense, going around the diamond:

Avila: Not a good, consistent hitter. The OBP is nice, what when you're constantly hitting under .240, that's a problem.
Cabrera: I don't think he's 100% from that surgery
Kinsler: He's in a slump, but he wasn't going to hit .320 anyway. He's been fine
Suarez: Teams are starting to adjust to him. He's a rookie. He's been fine so far
Castellanos: Another rookie. He's got some work to do
Davis: His numbers are coming back to earth. Need to get a LF bat to avoid over-exposing him.
Jackson: Still inconsistent. This is what he is, at this stage of his career
Hunter: Done. If they get a LF outfield bat, I'd release him. He can't even do the fundamentals in the field, and the OBP for the past year is horrific.
V Mart: He's been excellent, but he can't keep this up all season, can he?
JD: I don't think he can keep this up all season once teams adjust to him, which I expect any minute here. Long-term, he's a #4 outfielder. Nothing more.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Dammit, Suarez. You're causing bigger problems than the ones you're trying to solve.

And if that's a hit, I'm Abe Lincoln.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 7: The George Kell edition

Evidently rushing your throw so much that it misses its target, but still beats the runner by five feet counts as a hit rather than an error. Not really sure how that's not an error there. And it ends up hurting Sanchez and his ERA now because of it.
