An Avila strikeout, a beach ball, a downpour, and now the tarp.

Oh, and Avila didn't hit the beach ball, either.

Burke Badenhop pitching for the Red Sox. Part of the Miggy trade, along with Andrew Miller.

We're not going to try to win this one 1-0, are we?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

I'll recap that conversation between Jones and Ausmus:

Jones: Hey, what should I tell this rube?

Ausmus: Tell him to quit playing grabass out there and start getting guys out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

"This is why Detroit leaves their starters in." Said my cousin's husband who is from MI and here with me at the game, after a balk and a hit by pitch. I was surprised they left Scherzer in for so long.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Scherzer threw 105 pitches. That's about right for him. They'll usually go about 100 pitches or so, except for Verlander, who can get into the 120s if the situation calls for it.

And there was a 50 minute break in between

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Is that a residual White Sox thing?

It's an AJ thing. He's been an asshat everywhere he's been, from Minnesota, to the Giants, to the White Sox, to Texas. And now to Boston.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

If that had been hit any harder off the Monster, they might have been able to throw Miggy out at 1st.

And if that's in any other ballpark, this post would consist of a large flashing light and bold font.

Those exact two things were just discussed here.

When did you guys get Joba the Hut?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

We took a flyer on him this offseason. 1 year, 2.5 mil.
