Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

We're going to load the bases with Al Al on the mound? Okay, if you say so.....

Now Porcello is in. This ought to be good.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Predictable. I'm not even mad at Porcello, or the rest of the pitching tonight, for that matter.

0 runs in the last 17 innings. Meanwhile, Peralta with splinters in his asscheeks. That's what I'm not overly pleased about this evening.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Question, since we got rid of delmon young, would we have been better keeping him.? At least he can hit. Especially in the post season.
It's a shame Verlander couldn't get any run support.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Think this team needs a radical lineup change. Been shut out too many times. What I would like to seee today.

Infante 2b
Hunter rf
Cabrera DH
Martinez C
Peralta 3b
Fielder 1b
Jackson CF
Iglesias SS
Kelly LF

You do that in Spring Training, not in the post season.

Peralta will be in left today. Delmon was not the type of character player Dombrowski wanted in the club house. We had a glut of outfielders at this time last season and they are converting Castellanos to the outfield, too.

Miggy is injured, it is obvious how he is being pitched. Leyland may consider moving him down in the lineup and moving Fielder and Martinez up. Forget about Martinez catching until the Tigers potentially reach the World Series. Problem with moving Fielder up is that he has no plate patience and is struggling.

We are what we are- a good team with great starting pitching. Get into the bullpen or don't score any runs and it gets dicey. This coming from the team that scored the 2nd most runs in the AL.

You do it when your team and individuals are struggling. Jackson HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM LEADOFF!!!!

When he was out injured midway thru the season (for about a month), the Tigers struggled getting men on base ahead of the bashers. Jackson came back into the lineup and went on a tear. He is streaky and the only speed the Tigers have in the lineup outside of Iglesias.Yes, he has to cut down on his swing and his strikeouts yet there is no better candidate for the lead off role.

I understand your frustration, but I disagree.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

Thought this string would be more active this afternoon. There was just a couple of worst case scenarios for the Tigers. An unearned error on Cabrera that he might not have made if he were more mobile, and a run on a fly ball to shallow left field that a career outfielder might have prevented.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

And the Peralta experiment pays off. Give up one run he might have prevented, knock in two.

Speed doesn't matter when you don't get on base. So far if Cabrera is Dh, Peralta at 3rd and anyone else in left, this is a 3-1 game. We will see but these look like easy decisions. Lucky Oakland isn't bunting more.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

 Uggh. Just after Kaat was talking Sanchez up like he was cruising this inning.

Start Scherzer tomorrow and Verlander will be on full rest if they get to Thursday. Lineup needs changes but I doubt it will happen. See what they are made of.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 6: The Al Kaline edition

If I were king, Fielder would be out of the line up.
Second, Fister earned a shot at pitching tomorrow, I'd give it to him.
third, with miggy really hurting we are an average team, and the odds are real bad now of going any further.

Everyone seems to be blaming leyland but really without Cabrera doing his thing, we can't expect much different, imho.

I would consider moving iglesias out, Peralta back to short and let dirks play left. We need every possible bat and iglesias is not one.

At least the Prince had two hits today and a run scored. He has been off, but I don't think taking him out is a consideration.

I'd like to see Mister Fister have a good outing; but, I hope to h**l whoever pitches tomorrow gets some run support.

Tigers without a healthy Cabrera isn't quite as bad as the Lions without Megtron, but it's pretty bad. Miggy is having a tough time all the way around though.

Could go with the Iglesias/Peralta move, but don't have that much confidence in Dirks.

I get tired of watching AJ and Avila at the plate.
