The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
If Peralta goes out, that's trouble, plain and simple. There's no easy, or cheap, solution.
Regarding the offense, first things first. Austin Jackson needs to come back healthy. That's been a big drag on this offense. But there's nothing we can do about that.
As for adjustments, two come to mind. First and foremost, Alex Avila needs to start hitting, or we've got to make a change behind the plate. Either Brayan Pena, or Brian Holaday in AAA-Toledo, or James McCann in AA-Erie, or a trade, or something. We've gotten no production whatsoever out of Avila so far. That must change. Secondly is the DH position, directly behind Fielder. Martinez is simply not producing enough. Maybe a short-term answer is Tuiasosopo, or someone else, but Martinez has yet to really pick things up. Given his age and his injury, there's plenty of reason for concern.
Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition
Valverde terrible again tonight. looks like they are sitting on the split finger which doesn't do much. If he can't get it to do more, things are going to get worse. But we really have no one to call on instead, though I wish we did. The whole bullpen needs to be better if we are to win in the fall.
Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition
Just in case you're sitting in front of the television (like me right now), Kevin Ziomek (2nd round pick of the Tigers) is pitching for Vanderbilt against Louisville on ESPN. He gave up a run in the bottom half of the 2nd.
Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition
Three run double from Prince.
Carrasco is going to be at 60+ pitches thru 2. If he didn't cash in there, we lose. You can't leave 6 on base, score only 1, make the pitcher throw 60, and expect to win.
Now it's up to Ricky Bobby to give us some innings.
