Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Now the rumor mill is all over Stephen Drew to the Tigers, and Peralta on the trading block.

I was quite happy about the Hunter signing, except for the money. I'm on the opposite side here. No thank you to Mr. Drew, at any price. I'd rather have Peralta. Drew can't stay healthy, and his family is known for having more drama than Broadway.
Agreed and his agent is a jerk. I'd rather a left for the bp.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Point of clarification:

If you're on Yahoo and you see the headline "Justin Verlander shot", don't panic. They're talking about a golf shot.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

And of course, Lynn Henning is salavating over the prospect of signing BJ Upton, too.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Apparently quite a few teams interested in Boesch. I like him, I think he has potential for a lot of power numbers.
Broxton signed for a lot with the REDS and the jerk of an agent for Soriano might over price him as well, in which case the tigers will pass.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

If any of those teams have a shortstop they're willing to part with, I'd be willing to listen to offers for Boesch.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I could see teams being interested in Boesch. The one thing keeping him from being a reliable everyday power-hitting corner outfielder is plate discipline, and it's pretty obvious that's something the Tigers' staff doesn't even try to teach. Good opportunity to get a big reward for a cheap investment.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Winter meetings start next week. Rumor is the Tigers are interested in Astrubal Cabrera. Price would be Nick Castellianos and one other player. A pitcher most likely.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I'd tell the Tribe to stick it in their ***. That's way too much.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I'd trade him, but not for that. Elvis Andrus, now we can have a conversation.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Tigers apparently have offered Sanchez 4 years 48 million. He on the other hand, is asking for 6 years 90 million.

I guess I didn't realize he was Sandy Koufax.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Reminds me of Cliff Lee a couple years ago. If he gets $15/year, what is Verlander going to get after 2014?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I bet it costs a little bit more than that. :p

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

No. They're doing everything they can to get under the lux cap threshold for 2014. They've actually put themselves on a budget.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

The one to worry about with Verlander is going to be the Dodgers.
