Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Stick needs work.

So far, Iglesias is holding to his .330 average (.333 with the "Tigres" in 6 at bats), and he showed some power last night with his solo HR.

Like him! Hope he "sticks" around for a while...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Those jerseys weren't as awful as I thought they would be. All the uni sites and blogs say the Tigers made a disastrous move in 1960 by going to the script instead of the Old English D, but I have to say, if the Tigers were ever go try an alternate (a real one, not that awful blue top they tried for a game in 95), I wouldn't mind those (English or Spanish).

In general I do not like alternate jerseys. My preference is the classic home jersey, along with the road jerseys of the mid-60's, with a slightly smaller font.

EDIT: This one for the road, although it appears to be from 1960

Two plays missed there by Peralta that Iglesias likely makes.....

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Rod's gonna need a towel if he has to watch Iglesias play everyday.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

It's already a foregone conclusion the Detroit media will talk about Peralta tomorrow. I'll bet you a beer Henning finds a way to turn that line drive into another whine about the fences.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

With Miggy's PH single and subsequent removal for a pinch runner, Brayan Pena is the only one left on the bench.

3-2 final in 12.

Hunter with the winner, a single to LC.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Evan Reed sent down.......Jeremy Bonderman recalled.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

That might be the slowest jog to 2nd on a double that I've ever seen.

I'll address Jhonny in a little bit.

Both Miggy and VMart look like they're taking walks in the park at times. Understandable given their injuries. I think VMart is trying to save himself for the long term.

Is Peralta done in Detroit? Will he be back, or will the Tigers go with the future depending on how Iglesias does the rest of the way?

Peralta's done in Detroit. You don't trade away a pretty good prospect for what is likely Detroit's future SS for the next few years.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Bases loaded, 0 out...and we drown all three of them.

No way on earth should Miggy be in the lineup if he can only run like that.

I agree with Nick. Peralta is effectively done. They may use him in the last couple games to tune up for any potential postseason, if Iglesias' bat goes south in Inge-esque fashion. Either way, you can count on your hands the number of games we'll see Peralta in a Tiger uniform.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Miggy just hit about a 650 foot double....and had to slide to make it to 2nd base.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Verlander might need to Verlander some Cleeeeeveland scrub in the backside.
