Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Associated Press is reporting that Jhonny Peralta will be handed a 50-game suspension on Friday and will not appeal.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

You're getting your SS for the next 10 years in Jose Iglesias. Vacuum glove. Stick needs work.
Probably doesn't hurt em to have somebody young and mobile in the infield. Do hope Miggy gives the kid a few pointers.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Villareal might be headed to Boston, too. Good place for him.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Yes, Iglesias' batting average is a mirage; he was hitting over .400 a couple of weeks ago, and over .500 at one point. But forget about the bat -- he's one of the few guys I've loved watching play defense. If you like defensive baseball, you're in for a real treat. Sorry to see him go.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Tigers are pounding the Nats. Just KO'd Gio in the 4th.

9-1, bottom 4.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Gates Brown is not doing well. He's had health issues for a while.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Apparently Iglesias is going to wear #1.

Thought he might wear the reverse of Jhonny's number.

Jose is not on the active roster as of 1 PM. Guess they're waiting for the axe to fall on Peralta before he gets put on the 25 man roster?????

Probably right. I love his defense, but Peralta can hit. I'm very sorry he got caught up in this. We will miss his game for sure.
I love Villareal. I think he will be a sold major league player eventually. I'm wondering if we will see Castellanos back at third base, or if Iglesias will play third for a while with miggy hurt.

JACKSON!!!

2-0, bottom 5.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

We're pitching out with Adam Dunn on 1st base........

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Nick Castellanos has been out of the Mud Hens lineup for the past three games after playing virutally every day. Anyone got anything on that? Google doesn't appear to offer any insight. I'd like to see him play when we go tomorrow night.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

No Castellanos tonight, either. Something's wrong.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Since it appears that Los Tigres are playing tonight, will you be doing the posts in Spanish??

Hunter hit a jonrun or was it a cuadrangular??

Add to that one:
Peralta
IGGY!

Caught a foul ball at the Mud Hens game.

One handed.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Those jerseys weren't as awful as I thought they would be. All the uni sites and blogs say the Tigers made a disastrous move in 1960 by going to the script instead of the Old English D, but I have to say, if the Tigers were ever go try an alternate (a real one, not that awful blue top they tried for a game in 95), I wouldn't mind those (English or Spanish).
