Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

No-no goes bye-bye with 2 outs in the 7th. A long, clean double by Mitch Moreland.

5-0 at the stretch.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Jeremy Bonderman is back in the organization.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

52 wins at the break, 10 games over- should be 56 wins at least except for our sieve bullpen and all or nothing offense.

If the playoffs started today, Texas would face Tampa in a one game playoff to play Boston. The Tigers would play Oakland and have played the most number of games to play than any contender. The Orioles are close enough to the wild card to say they could sneak in past either the Rangers or Tampa. Cleveland is only 1.5 games out from Detroit, but neither would get the wildcard. The Yanks, tied with Cleveland's record, look to be the odd team still in the race, but out because of the division they are in.

This is a good race, and with 62+ games to play on the average, it will go into September.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Butler might not be in this game by the time we get back.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Mike Ilitch tuned 84 today.

I don't think I need to comment further.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

When compared to William Clay Ford, it is young. *shrug* Still, at that age, buying green bananas is considered a long-term investment.

2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Hunter and Miggy ground out to end the 8th. Say goodnight.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

I have never in my life seen a catcher get conked on the head more than Alex Avila.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Aaarrgghhh....Martinez dick-teased us there. I thought that was a homer-light for sure.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

And he never makes it to 3rd.

*shakes head*

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

7-2 to open the 9th, Coke is in the game. We still might need Benoit.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

What a fiasco this call might turn out to be.

EDIT: Ventura tossed.

We're three batters in, 2 caught stealing, and Hunter is on 2nd base.
