Dear ny, boston, pittsburg, st cloud, minny, and anyone else: THAT is what god Bless America sounds like. Please don't insult us with crap next time. Especially you st cloud.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Miggy starting to Miggy. 3-3 today.

3-1, bottom 5.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Al Al had a bad bad inning, but at the same time, we've got to start getting more than 5 innings out of our starters. We could have 4 Mariano Riveras in the pen, and we're still going to have problems if we've got to run to the pen in the 6th inning every night.

**** poor baserunning out of Avila there. Maybe he was in shock that Santiago actually made contact.

8-4 final.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

2 guys that I have a feeling are not long for this roster: Santiago and Brayan Pena.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Add Villareal to that list.

6-1 Tigers thru 4. Again.

Tigers were trying to pedal Santiago anyway. The guy has digressed as a MLBer, but stays on because there isn't anyone else the Tigers feel is ready to bring up or spend to trade for. Same with their back-up catcher. At least in 1984 we had Castillo as a back-up. But name me a WS champ that worried about having a productive back-up? The only time that comes into play is long term injury. These are fringe players that give the regulars a blow. Great teams get production from them when in the lineup, especially now that the roster sizes are limited from what they were in the past. It is definitely a weak link for the Tigers.

As for the pitching staff- unless our starters go longer in games, the reliefers will be exposed. Plenty of potential and lack of consistent execution. We knew this coming out of Florida. Villareal, Albuquerque, Downes... all unproven. Coke, Benoit, etc- we know what we are suppose to be getting.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Mario just had to open his mouth about Fister getting the first 10. Next two batters hit two balls about 710 combined feet, and we're tied.

Bedtime. My sleep schedule is so *d up it's not even funny.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

That right there tells you that Victor Martinez is not at full strength yet.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Scherzer with a gem through 8. 1 ER, 12 K's against King Felix.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Well, that was a fortunate win. By last count the Tigers have piddled away three games this season. I'll consider this one as one they earned, maybe even stole.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

Verlander nearly at 130 thru 7. He gave up 2 runs in the 7th, but our offense has been stalled in Seattle. 2 runs in 21 innings.

Yet, he took the responsibility for hanging a curve that drove in the winning run. Gotta like that.

Tigers haven't done well against Seattle the last couple of seasons, so I'll take 2 out of 3... shame your ace didn't get any run support, though. It's like giving back the game the night before that they were fortunate to win.

Catching the Angels at a good time, too.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 5: The Hank Greenberg edition

That's a helluva job all the way around to get out of that only giving up 1.
