Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

If you're going to run into Fielder like that and bring him down, you darn sure better help him up and give him a hug.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

We get beat 1-0 by Bruce ****ing Chen.

Jesus H. Christ on a street-corner with a circus monkey.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

This team has 4 hitters. They follow them up with 1-15, 4K, walk, and 11 left on base in the 5-9 spots.

Bruce. Chen.

The last time this guy sat above 85 MPH was when he was riding down the expressway. And we get 4 whopping hits off of him in 8 innings. Phil Niekro laughs at his velocity. The Royals hit Verlander harder last night in the 1st inning.

A decade ago all we begged for was to play meaningful games in September. 10 years later we're forced to beg for the same thing again this season. We're going to be 5 games out by Labor Day.

Bruce. Chen.

Brennan Boesch was in the on-deck circle as a pinch hitter when Peralta K'd. And this was an upgrade.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

This game is turning out to be like last night.

Who thinks several of the team will be gone next year given the sad numbers this summer.?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

I think there's going to be more guys gone than people think.

To start...Raburn, Peralta, Delmon, Porcello, Boesch, Valverde, Coke. I think they're all going to be elsewhere come next April. And that's not taking into consideration short-term moves made just for this year, like Baker and Sanchez. There's 9 on the active roster right there.

Chance to get back to 2 GB tonight, as Harrelson's Heroes last to the O-faces earlier today.

I think porcello stays, sanchez is iffy, baker gone, valverde iffy, otherwise I agree.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Fielder doubles to open the inning. We can't even get him to 3B.

We're mailing this thing in so bad, there ought to be a post office on the way to 1st.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

I'll give Gump this. Even though he popped out, he's still battling. That's just about the best you can say out of any of these guys the past couple days.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Not only are we near the top of the AL in RISP, we must be leading the league in LISP: Left In Scoring Position.

This is well past the point of absurd.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Villareal just touched 100.

EDIT: and just did it again.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Sounds like College FOOTBAW was a wise choice tonight. If BYU could hurry up and score and punt so Mike Leach can bring his glorious glorious offense out, that'd be great.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Well, so far we got one strikeout (and counting) instead...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Peralta drives in a run. I should bring out the Homer Light. 1 run scored in the last 18 innings.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Cabrera quits on a ground ball that turned into a double play. That ends the game.

These guys have given up.
