Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

So we didn't get the double play that would have ended the 6th. Porcello then throws a cookie to Kendrick that Kendrick laces for a 2-run double. Frankly, I'm amazed that ball didn't land somewhere in the 23rd row, given the location.

2-0 Angels. Thanks, Ricky Brokedick. No wonder you're the one that's part of off-season trade speculation.

Now, why we're not teeing off on Greinke is another matter altogether.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Prince has no right to ***** there. That was waay to close to take with 2 strikes.

CABRERA!!!

2-1 Angels, bottom 8.

When you hit it that far, it doesn't matter how the ankle feels.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Good grief, gentlemen. That was foul pop-up, not a falling hand grenade. It's okay to catch it.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Harrelson's Heroes just blew a 7-5 lead with 1 out in the 9th and trail 8-7. Harrelson's quote: "this is fun..."

Yes, it certainly is. Go eat a dick and choke to death, Hawk.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

And Seattle just went into full choke mode, Mama Cass with a ham sandwich-style.

2 1/2 games back of Harrelson's Heroes.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

This is all I have to say about that last pitch: Thank God the umpire had his hand where he did.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Oh, man. Big boy almost tied it right there. Dammit.

5-3 final.

Squeaky clean 9th out of Valverde.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

35 games left, 2.5 games to make up.

10 vs. KC
7 vs. CWS
6 vs. Cleve
6 vs. Minn

3 vs. LAA
3 vs. Oak

19 A 16 H

My guess.... 20-15 finishing at 89-73. Will that be good enough to make the playoffs?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

20-15 won't be enough when we're 2.5 back. CWS can play .500 and tie us at that rate. We're going to need at least 22 and probably closer to 25 wins to sew this up. Probably need 5 of 7 from Harrelson's Heroes in the process. Anything less than 4 is fatal.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Verlander doing his best Ricky Porcello impersonation here in the 1st.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

So. We score 3 in the top of the 1st, while I am at the store dealing with geezers wearing blu-blockers in a grocery store at night. And when I say "geezers", I mean voted-for-Millard Fillmore geezers. I get home just in time to watch Verlander give them right back like we're all at the Salvation Army or something. Then we immediately go 1-2-3 in about 4 pitches.

Conditions are prime for a Hammer meltdown.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

JV has gotten 4 outs. He's given up 7 runs. And just now Fat Gene and Marlboro Jimmy are getting on the phone to the pen.

If this guy hits a bomb, the Homer Light is coming out for the Royals.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Verlander's given up almost as many runs tonight as he has in his career at Kaufman Stadium. The hell?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

10 hits in 2 innings. That's a week's worth of work for our 5-9 hitters.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 4: The Rudy York edition

Coke coming in, bottom 8, runner on 2nd, 2 out.

I got a bad feeling about this...
