Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

...yep, Penny time.

On the bright side, Cruz can get hit in the ear at least two times tonight.

Seriously, *** was that?

Glad I was listening to hockey now.

No idea. Some would think that when your season is on the line you would bring in your nest (coke) since if you dont get out of this inning then the rest rhat follow are meaningless...but thats just me.

Bleh.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

...and why the f isnt cruz getting drilled right now?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

The French put up more of a fight...Texas running while up seven, and nothing? No reason to stay up if theyre just rolling over like a Rayburn GIDP.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Jackson makes it slightly closer...

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

geezus H... I turned it on 15 min ago at 12-4, and now its 15-4. You guys really did give up earlier. Cruz with another.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Texas might score 20 without breathing heavy, and we might have a fight in the process.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

In honor of Nelson Cruz's HR giving the Rangers an 11-run lead, I showed him that number with my fingers. You guess which ones.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Cabrera has hit one halfway to Dallas. His 2nd of the game. It's 15-5.

Don't even think about a homer light.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

And a Brandon Inge check-swing ends our season.

Fitting.

Even so, good show, boys. The season, not tonight. Tonight was an absolute ****show.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Tough way to end the season with a total MAX fail. Disappointing. Texas proved that their lineup and their bullpen was much better than anything the Tigers or anyone in the AL can trot out there. Good luck in the WS, though if their starters can't get through five innings.

I think we exceeded expectations this season, though. It provides hope for the next few seasons if they can fill some holes (3B, 2B, bullpen, backup catcher and in the outfield.) So long to Ordonez and Guillen... thanks for your efforts in Detroit. Oh, and Penny- thanks for this season. Now go away.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Avila wins Silver Slugger for AL Catchers. Well deserved for him. I heard Dombrowski in a interview that the main need for next season was a right handed catcher. Its clearly a big need...but the biggest need is still at second, right?

Somebody to give Avila a few blows down the stretch would be pretty useful. And depending on the market, they might be willing to go with the idea of platooning guys there at 2nd and 3rd. Either way, right now flat out announcing that they're going to go out after a second baseman just jacks the price up. And also, I heard em talking on the radio about how the Tigers have something like 9 Million in payroll to guys who are not even on the team this year that they'll have to pay as well

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Tigers BIG FA acquisition.... Jaime Carroll????

If they (only) sign him and (for example) cut loose Betemit and Santiago... then I will question Illitch's desire to seriously take a run at a championship before he moves on.

Targets at backup catcher and 2b will not win the pennant. No sir.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

We need a 2B, 3B, another catcher, maybe a LF, and some bullpen help. We've only been screwing around at 2B for going on 3 years now, and we can debate how long we've been dicking with 3B as well.

IMO getting rid of Santiago would be asinine at best. He's a ****ed good utility player, and we get into trouble only when we ask him to be something other than a utility player, which we've done an awful lot of lately. Same goes for Don Kelly. If you're asking for more than 250 AB out of Santiago, and more than 150 out of Kelly, you're asking for disappointment.
