Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

8 game losing streak.

36-45 at the halfway point. On pace for a 72-90 season.

Unfortunately, I think it's going to get worse from here. We're without Miggy for the entirety of the 2nd half of the season, and the offense simply has no punch. Candelario is showing that he's still a rookie, and Castellanos is the only one in the order who can consistently produce, and right now there isn't much of a compelling reason to give him anything to hit.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 30-51 finish to come in at 66 wins. That's still one hell of an improvement from what I thought we'd be looking at.

Still have 8 more to go to make it onto the wiki page for MLB losing streaks. 9 to tie the franchise record from 1975.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Well, we don't have another off day for another 12 days, and right after that we go to Houston to finish up before the All Star Break. I don't know how long this streak is going to last, but I suspect that we're in for some hard times. And no, I can't believe I just paraphrased Dusty Rhodes there. A 3-12 stretch to finish out the first half of the schedule would not raise my eyebrows one bit.

We haven't won since Father's Day. I wonder if the water has found its level with this team.

The thing is, outside of the Cleveland series we haven't played that badly. We've had a lead in six of the games and the Oakland series could have very easily been a four game sweep our way. Last year's team was way easier to ignore. This year's team is frustrating because most games are competitive but they find a way to blow it late.

CASTELLANOS!!!!

3-0, top 3

Won one today. If they win tomorrow, that's a streak. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE!

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Greiner to Toledo
Adduci recalled from Toledo.

Tigers clip the Jays in 10.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

Zimmerman has gone 8 tonight. 1 ER, 11 K's.

I'd send him out to start the 9th, even at 97 pitches.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 10: The Tommy Bridges edition

He just got the handshake in the dugout. He's probably done.

I'm second-guessing this one right now.

JONES!!!!

3-1, bottom 8

Now I'd DEFINITELY send Zim out to start the 9th.
