Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

It sounds like tomorrow when rosters expand, the Tigers are calling up Max St. Pierre who has played 14 years in the minors without ever playing in the big leagues.

EDIT: I also landed my first ever Target Field tickets for Thursday night. The Tigers are a stellar 1-0 with me in attendance this year.

JFC. TALK TO EACH OTHER!!! COMMUNICATE!!! DO SOMETHING!!!!!

I don't care what language it's in, so long as they understand each other. I don't care if they point and grunt at each other like cavemen in the field. It doesn't matter to me. We've already gone through 2 second basemen this year. We don't need to break another one all by ourselves.

That was scary and could have been much worse...

Valencia might have been dead there at 2nd had Rhymes not dropped that ball.

Especially with Cabrera in the vicinity. But there was absolutely no reason for that. It was completely avoidable.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

I wouldn't of put money on the Tigers getting 3 unearned runs on 2 Twins errors in a single game, or even for this entire series.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

There's the Galarraga we're used to.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Anyone else have the FSD picture lock up?

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

And Perry ties the game with a bases loaded walk on 4 pitches.....sigh.......

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

And now that we're losing, it looks like they're hitting with wet spaghetti noodles.

F#$*ing piranhas.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

3-0 lead and Galarraga and Co. **** it right down our leg.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

3 rookies in the lineup ahead of Cabrera, and Gump Laird at the bottom. Yikes.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Brennan Boesch: inexcusable.

Scherzer is going to throw a gem and strike out about 12, and get beat 2-1 or 3-2.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Apparently it's Retard Rookie night on the basepaths. We've had two rookies doubled off of first tonight.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Any chance we can release Gump tonight? We've got two other catchers now. Either one can hit better than this needledick. This chump would give Chris Truby a run for his money as the worst hitter in the majors over the last decade.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

I cannot believe that at the major league level, hitters still fail to understand the concept of "if there's 2 strikes, and the pitch is close, swing the bat".

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

Is anyone else here? Would you send Scherzer out to start the 10th? He's at 106 pitches. I would, without hesitation.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

I don't get why he is suddenly a shutdown pitcher...

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010, Part 2: Wanted: Hitting. Gerald Laird need not apply

He's always had high velocity. He got shelled early this season and got sent to AAA. He spent two weeks down there, they made a couple adjustments, and he's been downright dominant since his return. Whatever they did down there did the trick.

This guy was the #11 overall pick in the 2006 draft. It's not like he appeared out of nowhere and no one had ever heard of him. Someone somewhere thought he was going to be good.
